I just want to throw this out for everyone's information. Last year, my sister and I came to the convention. To make a long story short, we ended up having to find a room about four weeks before the convention. For $200 a night, we found a lovely two bedroom, two bath apartment one building away from the hotel. (The Irish Pub was in this building.) Full kitchen, washer dryer, Etc.

When it gets closer to the convention, I will be looking for something similar. (It is too early to do it now, can't book that far ahead.)  Since it will be just me this year, I will be looking for roommates. So don't panic if you haven't found anything yet or couldn't get a reservation at the hotel. There are lots of options available.

As long as Mr. Anderson is scheduled to come, I will be there. I'd love to see Ms. Tapping and Mr's Shank and Judge but I'd be very hesitant to buy a ticket based on them being there, esp. since Ms. Tapping and Mr. Shanks cancelled at the last gatecon. I trust Mr. Anderson to come if he says he will.

(I understand schedules changing, etc. etc. and I don't blame them for cancelling - but I would still be hesitant to buy tickets.)

I agree with the previous posters.  A big THANKS to everyone involved!! This was my first convention - I had no idea what to expect - but I had a grand time!! I didn't expect to have the chance to actually speak with many of the actors and the other convention attendees were a lot of fun.

Am definitely making plans to come again next year (keeping fingers crossed).

I actually went to a vintage store and got a dress from the sixties (at least that's what they told me). I might not be the grooviest person there - but I'll be authentic!!

Like most everyone here, I bought my ticket last September. Doesn't seem like nine months ago. But now the convention is less than three months away!! Until now, it seemed to be 'way off in the future' but it coming up fast. I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone!

Ok, I decided to get in on this. And this is what I came up with. I usually make it with pineapple juice but, since that wasn't one of the juices listed as available, this was made with a mixture of apple and orange. (Orange juice by itself was too acidic.) Anyway, in homage to '1969', it's called 'Solar Flare'...

Solar Flare
5 oz mixed apple/orange juice
1 oz vanilla vodka
1 oz Amaretto

Shake with ice, then strain into a glass. Pour just a touch of grenadine down the side.



Or don't strain it and just pour everything into a glass, then add the grenadine.

Those masks by Mr. Sanford are amazing. I'm always impressed by people who can do things like that (since I have exactly zero artistic talent myself). I particularly like the 'Wisdom' one.

Thanks for everyone's help. (I told you I wasn't computer savvy!) Let's see if it works now.

The first picture is of Hela sprawled out on the couch. (Tough life, huh?) The second is a close-up of her face (isn't she adorable)!





I'll add more pictures as she gets older. I hope all the dog-lovers at the convention come and say 'Hi' - she loves people.

Hi again!

I posted earlier but since I'm now planning on bringing my dog, it was suggested that I post her name and a picture of her here too. She's a basset hound and her name is 'Hela' (Norse goddess of the underworld) because she was much darker when she was born. Her face was totally black! She's 10 weeks old now and has lightened up considerably! She'll be 9 months old by convention time and lots bigger.

Well, no luck.  "The upload folder is full" (whatever that means). The pictures are only about 50kb so that shouldn't be the problem. I guess I'll try again later.
