Meanwhile apologies for all the broken images on the forum - as you may know by now, Photobucket are holding their free account members to ransom by demanding $400 a year to provide third party hosting. Please bear with us while we change to an alternative method. The most crucial images will be replaced as time permits.

Tapping has come to secure a strong and direct influence on her projects from behind the lens.  She was an Executive Producer of Sanctuary and also sat in the director’s chair for several episodes.  She previously directed an episode of Stargate: SG-1 ("Resurrection") in 2004, which garnered her a Leo Award nomination for Best Director.

This year she directed three episodes of Primeval: New World and an episode of Arctic Air.  Tapping has also earned four Leo Awards for Best Actress, has been nominated for two Gemini Awards and four Saturn Awards and won the 2005 Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress.  Amanda’s love of comedy lead her to co-found the all female Canadian comedy troupe, Random Acts. Her work in the short film Breakdown earned her the Canadian Comedy Award in 2007.  She recently completed work on four films, Space Milkshake, Random Acts of Romance, Taken Back and Kid Cannabis.  She is currently playing the character of Naomi on the hit TV series Supernatural.
She continues to advocate mentorship and improvement in the arts world through a number of professional organizations including WIFT-V and their “Flash Forward” program.

She was honoured with Women in Film’s “Woman of Vision” award.  She also received the YWCA Women of Distinction “Connecting the Community” Award

Tapping has had the pleasure of supporting various charities and organizations such as The Coast Foundation, a support agency for people with mental disabilities, The Canadian Cancer Society, UNICEF and V-Day by performing in “The Vagina Monologues” to help end violence against women and girls worldwide.  She also sits on the leadership council for The Waterkeeper Alliance.  Amanda, who is a strong advocate for the often unheard “little voices,” launched the charitable foundation “Sanctuary for Kids” in 2009 to support both local and global children’s charities helping children in crisis.

She was recently awarded The Jules Verne Award for her humanitarian work.

Our latest guest to join the line-up for The Invasion is Peter Kelamis who played Dr Adam Brody in Stargate Universe.

Peter also appeared in two episodes of SG-1 and more recently as The Man in the Yellow Jacket in Beyond.

Peter will be taking part in the weekend activities as well as joining Gary Jones on stage for the banquet entertainment night (banquet tickets still available on the Gatecon website www.gatecon.com).

So, as you may have gathered from our posts on here and the Facebook group, Stargate Command and GateWorld are coming to Gatecon in September.

We will be making further announcements with details of their involvement soon, but we look forward to welcoming Kieran Dickson, Jenny Seelman Stiven, David Read and Darren Sumner who will be hosting a very special SGC Lounge - a chill-out room for fans (and organisers too)

It's been a while since our last guest update, so....

We are pleased to announce that joining Gatecon for the first time will be Megan Leitch who played Ke'ra in SG1 - the younger version of Linea, Destroyer of Worlds.

Megan also appeared as Samantha Mulder in the X-Files.

Heading to Vancouver to join in The Invasion will be members of Stargate Network. They will be on stage demonstrating the latest Gatecon-exclusive update to their game and will also be in the dealer room the rest of the time where you can have a go playing the game.

Joining the authors' panel at The Invasion is J.C. Vaughn.

J.C. Vaughn (Jeffrey C. Vaughn) is the author of an essay in a book Stepping Through the Stargate: Science, Archaeology and the Military in Stargate SG-1. Jeffrey is also a cowriter (with Mark Haynes) for Stargate Atlantis season 6 official comics ("Back To Pegasus") and Stargate Universe season 3 official comics ("Back To Destiny").

Taking to the Gatecon stage for his first panel - although he has been to Gatecon as a fan of course - is Stefan Zadorozny.

Stefan is possibly the biggest collector of Stargate memorabilia in the world and he will be bringing some goodies along for us to look at, including his full Ra costume.

Stefan will also be on stage with Stargate Network to assist with any translation.

Giving us an illustrated behind the scenes look at the Stargate prop department will be Mark Nicholson who worked on Season 10 of SG1 plus the two DVD movies, Seasons 3-5 of Atlantis and Seasons 1 & 2 of Universe.

He has also worked on Sanctuary and the A-Team movie.

Mark will be on stage and also in the dealer room to answer any questions.
