Joining us for The Invasion is Michael Shanks who played Daniel Jackson (like you need to be told that!)

Michael Shanks is perhaps best known for his role as Dr. Daniel Jackson on Stargate SG-1,  but also starred as John Brady in the Emmy Award-winning dramatic telefilm "Door to Door" with William H. Macy and Helen Mirren. and appeared in the film "Call of the Wild" with Rutger Hauer.

For his portrayal of Jackson, Michael has been nominated for several awards over the years. In 2004, he won the LEO Award for "Best Performance By A Male Lead" and was nominated for a Saturn Award as well. Michael has also hopped behind the camera on Stargate, making his directorial debut with the episode "Double Jeopardy" in Season 4.  In Season 7, he co-wrote the episode "Evolution (Pt 1)" with Damian Kindler.

In addition to "Stargate SG-1," Michael has guest starred on a number of television series, including a Daniel Jackson turn in "Stargate: Atlantis," as well as "Andromeda" and "The Outer Limits" and more recently "Saving Hope." His television movie credits include a lead role in UPN's telefilm "Escape to Mars" and NBC's "A Family Divided."

Michael was born in British Columbia, Canada. Post college, he traveled to Ontario, Canada, where he spent two seasons with the world-renowned Stratford Shakespeare Festival, appearing in stage productions of "Amadeus," "Macbeth," and "The Merry Wives of Windsor" among others.

Joining her husband at The Invasion will be Lexa Doig who portrayed Dr Carolyn Lam on Stargate SG1

Toronto native Alexandra Doig was born on June 8th, 1973, to Filipina mother Gloria and Irish-Scottish father David. Her parents held season tickets to their local theater, and Lexa was inspired to begin acting after seeing a production of "Porgy and Bess" at the age of nine. She dropped out of high school in grade 13, did modeling and commercial work, and hosted YTV's Video & Arcade Top 10 (1991) with friend Gordon Michael Woolvett.

Her first professional job came at the age of 19, when she was cast opposite William Shatner and Greg Evigan in "TekWar". She went on to appear in several projects for both the big and small screens, including CI5: The New Professionals (1998), Jungleground (1995) and No Alibi (2000), before landing a lead role in Jason X (2001), the 10th installment in the Friday the 13th series. Shortly after, she captured the title role in Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda (2000) starring as the Andromeda Ascendant's sophisticated artificial intelligence system. She has also completed guest stints on several popular television shows, including Traders (1996), Earth: Final Conflict (1997), The Chris Isaak Show (2001). Theatre credits include "Jaffa Creenic and Old Lace" and "Romeo and Juliet".

Stargate fans will remember her as Dr Carolyn Lam in SG-1, and since then Lexa has also appeared in Supernatural, V, Arrow, Continuum and many more primetime shows.

In her spare time, Lexa enjoys reading, roller-blading and playing RPG video games, "Dungeons and Dragons" being her favourite. She currently resides in Vancouver, British Columbia with husband Michael Shanks, children Mia and Samuel and two cats.

Gatecon is thrilled to announce the latest guest to join the line-up for The Invasion 2018 in Vancouver.

Joining the world's largest and longest-running gathering of cast and crew from the Stargate franchise is Amanda Tapping

Amanda Tapping enjoys a fulfilling career in television and film, having spent 12 seasons on Stargate: SG-1 and it’s spinoffs Stargate: Atlantis and Stargate: Universe as Air Force Colonel Samantha Carter.  She then took on the lead role of Dr. Helen Magnus on the television series Sanctuary; a project she had been nurturing from its inception on the internet.

Tapping has come to secure a strong and direct influence on her projects from behind the lens.  She was an Executive Producer of Sanctuary and also sat in the director’s chair for several episodes.  She previously directed an episode of Stargate: SG-1 ("Resurrection") in 2004, which garnered her a Leo Award nomination for Best Director.

This year she directed three episodes of Primeval: New World and an episode of Arctic Air.  Tapping has also earned four Leo Awards for Best Actress, has been nominated for two Gemini Awards and four Saturn Awards and won the 2005 Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress.  Amanda’s love of comedy lead her to co-found the all female Canadian comedy troupe, Random Acts. Her work in the short film Breakdown earned her the Canadian Comedy Award in 2007.  She recently completed work on four films, Space Milkshake, Random Acts of Romance, Taken Back and Kid Cannabis.  She is currently playing the character of Naomi on the hit TV series Supernatural.
She continues to advocate mentorship and improvement in the arts world through a number of professional organizations including WIFT-V and their “Flash Forward” program.

She was honoured with Women in Film’s “Woman of Vision” award.  She also received the YWCA Women of Distinction “Connecting the Community” Award

Tapping has had the pleasure of supporting various charities and organizations such as The Coast Foundation, a support agency for people with mental disabilities, The Canadian Cancer Society, UNICEF and V-Day by performing in “The Vagina Monologues” to help end violence against women and girls worldwide.  She also sits on the leadership council for The Waterkeeper Alliance.  Amanda, who is a strong advocate for the often unheard “little voices,” launched the charitable foundation “Sanctuary for Kids” in 2009 to support both local and global children’s charities helping children in crisis.

She was recently awarded The Jules Verne Award for her humanitarian work.
