In 2008 it wasn't because there was a limited number of seats. I sat with friends.

There are usually a couple of 'Reserved' tables for certain folks, but beyond that, I *think* it's usually open seating.

You will find that it will be a topic of discussion when we get there. At the 1st one I attended, I was worried that all the tables would be full and I couldn't sit with people that I had made friends with. It worked out well because we were all in the same boat. 😊

Also, the reserved tables were off limits to us, but some of the guests that attended came around and said hello. 😀 we had a great conversation with Colin Cunningham. 😊

Yup we are still discussing the banquet layout. At first it was going to be assigned seating but we are leaning towards a couple of "reserved tables" and then leave it so you can all choose your own places after that.

I think that should make for a more pleasant atmosphere than being told where to sit, plus less hassle both in the planning stage now and on the night with people all trying to check a seating plan and match it up with the tables in the room. It also means any alterations between now and then won't affect pre-assigned seats!

I'm sold on the non-assigned scenario!!

One of the things we did in 2010 was set up reserved tables for the guests and some other key folks, then auctioned off a couple of seats at those tables for attendees to sit at the 'guest' tables during the banquet.  Which is about as close to 'assigned' seats as we got that year. =)
