As a private group on the ship, even if we don't have enough people for the full boat to ourselves, those just on the ship and not tied to the GC Homecoming, will NOT be interacting with the GC folks.

So it you want to go on a cruise with the GC: The Homecoming folks, you'll have to get your tickets through Gatecon, NOT the tour company. It is a one ticket-one price event! :-)

And as one who travels to Vancouver regularly for the past 25+ years, even with the Sky Train, getting yourself to the waterfront, and doing it in a timely manner, isn't always the easiest. Personally I'd vote for the bus to take us back and forth!! :-)

As well as prices, will we also get timings given to us before tickets are available? Before booking it would be good to know what kind of time the tour/cruise will be.

Yes you will.
The cruise will definitely happen on Thursday 8th September, and we are looking at a lunchtime sailing...as we need to be back at the hotel for the Meet & Greet in the evening.

But yes, the exact timings, and coach departure from the hotel if that is what we decide to go with, will be posted here at least a couple of days before the booking form goes live.

The meet and greet is the one planned for members here to meet each other, right?

The Meet & Greet Richard is speaking of is the one organized by Gatecon that happens on the 8th.

I missed that transportation wasn't included. Not being from the area and have never been, I can usually figure that stuff out... But love the fact they are considering adding transportation! Makes it so much easier and hassle free. ESPECIALLY since we are all going to the same place anyways 😁

Oh, ok. Guess I'll be going the entire time then :)

Long week in Vancouver :)

I've already started arranging for time off work. 😛

I'm good with whatever is decided. Ride or no ride.

I do have a question though. Do you have to have a ticket to GC to be in the group for the cruise? I may have a guest coming along with me who won't be attending the event, but may be room sharing and spending the time I am in Vancouver with me. I'd understand if you wouldn't allow this and just wanted to clear the air now.

I'm fine either with or without as I've done the trip quite a few times. Though it's not always easy and quick and if you don't know the area then I could see why someone would go for the charter bus.

The meet and greet dinner that I started a list for, is NOT part of the official gatecon activities. It is purely for us to have an informal dinner and say heĺlo before all the official Gatecon organised activities begin. I hope this clarifies things.

Richard, perhaps the title if my event can be ammended. Can you help please. I am not sure about changing titles of topics. We can call it Pre-Con meet up dinner. It may save others from any confusion. Apologies Shipwreck for not thinking of an original title. 😕

I'm getting my friend's tickets.  Should I fill out a separate registration for her? Thanks

The registration form is for joining the mailing list for the cruise details.  You can also list how many tickets you would need, so you shouldn't need to do the form twice if you're handling purchasing your friend's ticket. =)
