Accomodation
« on: April 23, 2016, 08:28:50 PM »
Sorry if this has been covered before but I can't find it.. :)

My friend and I are spending the week after the con sight seeing and I was wondering if anyone had and suggesions on hotels around the area. Bed and breakfast and obviously not too expensive preferably.

Thanks in advance...

Were you planning to just sight see in Vancouver and visit the usual tourist sights or wander a little further out? When I came for the first time to Vancouver from the UK for a family holiday we stayed at the Comfort Inn and Suites on Capilano Road in North Vancouver
http://www.vancouvercomfort.com/

It's really good value and well placed for Grouse Mountain and the Capilano Suspension Bridge and the Capilano dam that has appeared in many shows. Buses get you to downtown Vancouver or up to the bridge and Grouse Mountain. We found it was a good cheap way to stay in Vancouver and be within transit distance of all the Vancouver sights. We did hire a car though and that allowed us to travel further out as the hotel was close to Highway 1 and we could travel further out to various places in the Lower Mainland.

I have since ended up living in Vancouver and live a bit further out from the city. If you were planning on seeing more of the area and have a car, I could recommend some places from which you can visit some more of the out of the way places and see some more of the scenery, some of which you may recognise from Stargate (depending on which series' you watched) and other shows and movies.  :)

Thanks for getting back to me.  I've never been to Canada before but my friend has done 3 Gatecons, but a long time ago so obviously a lot has changed since then.

We're going to do the touristy bits and so what we were looking for is a twin bedroom, bed with breakfast preferably.  Unfortunately Sarah can't drive and I'm not allowed too so it would be good if transport was easy, although I don't doubt it would be as it's such a familiar place and a lot of things to see around the vacinity of Vancouver itself.

(I did have a smile when I mentioned the Capilano Bridge because she said... "you want to do that, you're on your own")  :D

I really like the look of the Comfort Inn though.
