I'm still thinking of volunteering. I did so for the 2008 event and had a blast working in the Legends room. This year, though, I'm going with a newbie who's never been to a big convention. I'm pleased and excited to show her everything and experience it through her eyes, but she wasn't keen on volunteering herself. Being so new and not really knowing too many people yet, I think she was afraid she would be abandoned.

If I can convince her of the fun of volunteering, is there a chance we could be put together to work? That way, she would at least start off hanging with someone she knows and will feel more comfortable and less out of her element.

I'm certain that by the end of the weekend, she'll have a ton new friends though. ;)

Hi Brenda,
Definitely mention staying together on the volunteer form when it goes live so Candace can plan accordingly.

I'm betting it won't take all weekend for her to find a bunch of new friends! ;D

The Volunteer application form is now live at the website...although we are referring to the volunteers as 'crew' from now on, and will be using the word crew rather than volunteer on the t-shirts.

Yup, I just signed up too.  I've never been a volunteer at a convention but it sounds like fun.  I'm looking forward to meeting everyone.

Think if it this way...by volunteering you will get to meet a small group of volunteers first. Then the other attendees through volunteering. It's fun. And yes make sure you are together.

Great! Crew sounds so much better than Volunteer - I'll complete my form ASAP. Do you guys need the forms back by a certain time? X
