Itinerary & Activities / Re: Weather
« on: September 03, 2016, 06:05:25 AM »
I'm from Chicago area and this meteorological summer has been hot, humid with many thunderstorms and flooding. I'll definitely not mind a bit of autumn-like weather.

It can rain the whole con weekend, except for Thursday between 11-4:30 pm. :P

The Homecoming 8th-12th September 2016 / Re: Volunteers
« on: September 01, 2016, 07:21:25 AM »
I've received two emails with assignments. I replied to one since I won't be available to do that shift due to the cruise happening at the same time, but offered to help out another day/time as well as extra roomie duties if needed.

I assume when we get our registration packet, our assignments (any unknown to us) will all be in it or we might find out officially at the briefing..?

You'll find out at the briefing, or via a new e-mail from Candace.  She's probably doing a bit of almost-last-minute shuffling. =)

Exactly what I thought. Thanks. ;)

Is it too late to add 2 more to the list? My wife and I would love to meet up with you all pre - convention!

Hi Mary. I have added you both to the list. I will be asking if I can increase to 65, but I won't be able to confirm for a couple of days. My arms will be to tired from flying! 😆

Safe travels to Vangroovy and see you soon! :)

Atlantia, this looks great. Will be lots closer and more convenient being in the hotel. The menu looks great too. Thanks for arranging this. :)

The Sheraton Vancouver Airport / Re: Hotel Facilities
« on: August 26, 2016, 08:31:10 AM »
I've scanned the posts here and the various threads so sorry if this was already stated and I missed it. Would there be complimentary wifi in the bedrooms or just in the public areas?

Having a proper chance to look over the schedule, I noticed and appreciate the fact that some panels are repeated twice a day to give everyone a chance to attend. Photo sessions are in the morning and some may miss out on a few panels because of this, but the kind folks at Gatecon have arranged the schedule so perfectly that no panel will be missed. Kudos to everyone. :)

Might be a dumb question, but wanted to make sure. If we are looking for the shuttle from the airport to the hotel during normal hours, do we go to the designated pick-up area in the arrivals area and look for one with Sheraton emblazoned on it? Do they do runs continuously back and forth throughout the day?

Outside the arrivals area/baggage claim, there will be shuttles and cabs pulling up.  The one for the con hotel should be Sheraton Richmond.  And you can ask the driver to make sure you're going where you need to go - they're pretty friendly. =)

Thank you! I assumed that's how it would be, but I've been wrong before. :P

Hi Brenda,
No worries. I will put a reserved sign on 2 seats together so you don't have to split up. My communications will be limited to here and facebook. I will see if Krisz will have her phone with her. If she does and is agreeable I will let you know by  pm how to get a hold of us if need be.

😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😀😀😀😀😀😁😁😁😁😁😁😆😆😆😆😆😆😆

Thanks Atlantia. Hopefully we'll make it in time and you won't have to save us seats. Cross fingers! :P

So excited! I started saving for this slowly, but now that we're 45 days away, I've been saving like a mad woman lol. Every extra penny I get goes for this convention.  ;D

As of today, our flight from Seattle was pushed back (again) so we're expected to land in Vancouver now at 5pm instead of 2pm like we had hoped. We'd still like to go to see/meet everyone. Can seats be saved if we arrive a few minutes late?

Not sure how long it might take to grab luggage, get through customs, catch the shuttle and check in at the hotel...plus the 20 minute walk to the restaurant. Not happy about the long layover in Seattle (6 hours fcol!) but there is nothing we can do about it. :(

If we arrive exhausted and/or very late, we will let you know asap if there was a smart way of updating you Atlantia. Any suggestions?

I found this website and thought I'd share it. My friend decided she didn't want to go on a tour anymore but I didn't want to let this info go to waste for anyone who still had their heart set on one. This company will pick you up and there doesn't have to be a set number of people like the one above. They have full day and half day tours available.

LOL, I think I'll skip this. :D

Oh, come on. This doesn't look like fun?  ;)

LOL, Not at the moment.  Maybe in a couple of years.

I wonder if it will help my bad back???? ;)

I firmly believe that there is no time like the present. Carpe Diem anyone? ;)

As for a bad back, might not be the best idea unless you want to wear a back brace. :P Honestly, if I remember correctly, the comments on the video recommend not doing this if you have leg troubles since the impact on a couple stops will be jarring. I'd think this would apply for anyone with back issues as well.
