Hi and welcome to our newest arrivals on the thread, looking forward to meeting you all!  It's been too quiet here in Vancouver for too long without the hordes of Stargate fans coming to have a great time! I've missed the excitement of looking forward to a Stargate con and connecting with friends old and new on forums and meeting in person to talk Stargate and more Stargate!

Thought I would Finally Say Hello to Everyone. My Name is Serenity (Seren for short) I'm coming from Nebraska I will be in G29.

I have never been to gatecon but I have gone to the stargate Chicago con, we decide on gatecon this year (it was really a how did this happen thing) I asked my Dad jokingly for 2 days and then he said yes. So it just happened and I screamed for days. I have been a fan since I was 8,
(some people say that's too young to watch stuff like that...I watched the xfiles when I was 4 so yeah no biggie)

Galxychld here, also known as Jacqueline, and I have been to Gatecon 2000-2005, and 2010, and have been waiting for this to happen! Wish I'd known sooner, but there was this thing called real life and new job and the difficulty of becoming a caregiver for my mother to distract me! Hope to be able to meet up with old friends and meet some new up in Vancouver next year! Old friends, drop me a line, be glad to hear from you!

Hey Galxychld, Welcome. I will stick with Atlantia (only so Brenda and I don't get mixed up). 😊This is a great group and I can't wait to catch up and/or meet new people from Gatecon world.  There is a conga line in the forum somewhere. I am still dancing around the room!

Sue here, although some may already know. I've been to many Stargate conventions and other scifi related events. I did attend Gatecon 2008 and have the souvenir magnet on the refrigerator. Will be glad to meet new people and catch up with returning attendees.

hi all--I have been to stargate conventions thru Creation for three years and at MTM in 2010--I am 63,have short gray hair with colors of black and turquoise stripes in front.  i am a BBW and dress for comfort over fashion,  I will be attending alone and staying at the convention hotel. But due to some personal and medical issues, I am not in the  market for any room sharing etc.  But I am vey open to dining out nearby (places above fast food) and having numerous drinks.  MY walking is poor these days so I go slow with lots of breaks.  I love to laugh, love cats,and music of all gneres with an emphasis on broadway musicals.
 
I currently live in western Massachussetts and am working on my
 transportation options  for September 2016.

A bit late, but: Happy New Year to all of you!

I'm Irena from Germany and I am a huge Stargate fan since I watched it first with my son in 2009. Since 2011 - when RDA first time came to Germany - I go to conventions with Stargate actors in our country. This one will be my first "oversea convention" and also the first strictly Stargate convention (apart from the AT in London [only with Amanda Tapping]). I'm impatiently looking forward to it and to see you all.

I read about the Homecoming shortly after we had returned from our very first travel to Canada last September ... and was sad because I thought it would not be possible to go back to Vancouver the very next year (it's a long and not cheap trip from Germany). But my husband agreed to go again although he will not attend the convention. We'll cruise to Alaska and then stay for a week in Van, so that I can attend the convention. Soooo happy ... and grateful to my husband!

The days before the convention we now can do what we couldn't make last year, especially a trip to Vancouver Island and maybe whale watching. Does anyone know where is the best place to start/book this trip (near the Sheraton)?

I am Maria and come from Germany. I've been to a couple of other Stargate cons but never to a Gatecon. I became a Stargate fan after SG1 got cancelled. But since then I am hooked. Although I watch plenty of other shows Stargate is my number one go to show to have a good time. It will always have a special place in my heart.
I've met RDA already twice in Germany at a con and he is such a funny and gracious man! Love him!
When I heard about the Homecoming I got soooooooo excited and decided on the spot that I must have a ticket at all costs! And I got lucky and I sit in place J38. I am also happy to meet again some friends, who I usually get a chance to meet at cons and I am looking forward to get to know plenty of new Stargate crazy like minded fans! Can't wait to see you all and have a great time with the actors during this time! So I hope September 2016 is approaching fast and to making new friends!!

Welcome to the forum. I'm from Germany too, but have been living in Canada for a few years now.

If you want to do whale watching from Vancouver, Google whale watching Vancouver and it should give you a few options. I think most of those tours are day trips, because it takes a a while just to get out there. You'll probably have to go downtown though to catch a ship.

You can travel to Vancouver Island by plane or ferry/bus. I did the ferry/bus on a September weekend once and unfortunately the bus trip wasn't the best. bus was packed!!! It is cheaper than flying though, unless you get a good rate with Westjet or Air Canada. (or you could take a sea plane)

I did the Alaska cruise a few years ago (also in September) and i really enjoyed it. I'm planning on doing it again this year, but have nothing booked yet.
