The Homecoming 8th-12th September 2016 / Re: Photograph Sessions
« on: July 26, 2016, 01:42:54 PM »
We're supposed to check with you if we want to bring a 'prop' to the photo ops. I want to bring my dog ('Hela' - a basset hound) to the photo op with RDA. (I plan on holding her in my arms.) Will that be ok?

Also, my sister is coming to the convention too and we both want a picture with RDA. (We want one picture with both of us - and Hela - in it.) But I bought the ticket and am doing all the planning. Can I buy her RDA picture ticket? In other words, can *I* order two tickets (one for each of us) or does she have to order her own ticket?

Thank you.

Anitamain - those all sound delicious!! I'm a coffee addict anyway so I will definitely try these out, contest or not. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure I volunteered earlier but - just in case - I went ahead and did it again. (I did put mention in the note that it might be a repeat.)

Thanks so much everyone. I really appreciate the encouragement.

I'd like to second Ron's comments. Thanks to everyone and I'm looking forward to meeting everyone at the convention!

There are lots of places.  The two biggest archives for stories written by fans are: http://archiveofourown.org and http://fanfiction.net  (AO3 is much easier to navigate, though I haven't been to FFN in a dog's age.)

If you want to talk to other Stargate fans about the show itself, you can hop over to http://sffchronicles.com - Stargate and pretty much any other SFF thing you can think of. =)

I wanted to let you know that I've been checking out these sites - pretty neat. One thing I would like to mention to anyone that's interested is that if a warning pops up that the story *may* contain adult material, it *will* contain adult material. If you're not expecting it, it can be quite a shock.  :o

On AO3 - the ratings system is there for a reason... if it's in the higher end of the ratings, it will have adult content.  Also - all the tags are a good indication of what you'll find in there.  The tagging system on AO3 is pretty extensive and some ppl are very thorough with their tags. =)

Please don't take me wrong. I'm thankful that you've pointed these sites out - it's a new world to me and I've come across some good stories. I guess I just took the 'may have adult situations' as sort of a generic warning and wasn't expecting...well, let's just leave it at that.  ;)

The suspense is killing me. lol

Me too!!

Out of curiosity, is there a site where people who like to write Stargate stories gather?  I'm relatively new to the Stargate universe and I don't want to buy any more books until the convention (where I'm thinking I can get them signed by the author) so I'm looking for Stargate stories to read just for enjoyment. Any suggestions??

I actually went to a vintage store and got a dress from the sixties (at least that's what they told me). I might not be the grooviest person there - but I'll be authentic!!

If you're travelling to the convention from outside North America, it would likely be beneficial to have both currencies on hand.  Or make good friends with someone from the US, bring your CAD, and make an equitable cash trade at the convention. =)

I might be willing to being extra US cash with me to trade for CAD :)

I can too. I'll have to convert some money to CAD anyway so it would help both of us.

Like most everyone here, I bought my ticket last September. Doesn't seem like nine months ago. But now the convention is less than three months away!! Until now, it seemed to be 'way off in the future' but it coming up fast. I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone!

I am thinking that the photo shoot should right after the cruise or I fear one done before hand could get shortened to get on board the cruise ship's departure time  when if done afterwards no time restrainsts.  no rushing,

Isn't there a dinner that night?

Even so, I agree with you. I'd rather do it *after* the cruise.

Just wanted to post a couple of updated pictures of Hela. She's growing up fast and I know she's looking forward to meeting everyone...

Couple of weeks ago...

And just the other day...

Ok, I decided to get in on this. And this is what I came up with. I usually make it with pineapple juice but, since that wasn't one of the juices listed as available, this was made with a mixture of apple and orange. (Orange juice by itself was too acidic.) Anyway, in homage to '1969', it's called 'Solar Flare'...

Solar Flare
5 oz mixed apple/orange juice
1 oz vanilla vodka
1 oz Amaretto

Shake with ice, then strain into a glass. Pour just a touch of grenadine down the side.

Or don't strain it and just pour everything into a glass, then add the grenadine.
