This is something we always say, but it is always true - we couldn't hold a successful convention without our volunteers.
Yes, it is a small group of individuals who spend months and months of planning and preparation for the convention, but it would all be for nothing if not for the hardworking band of volunteers who come forward to offer some of their valuable convention time to help ensure its success.
Much like the rolling credits at the end of a movie, it's amazing how many people usually end up getting involved, be it for a couple of hours only, or for the whole event. We never underestimate the valuable contribution our volunteers make.
We have a new buzzword for this year
RESPECT
We respect our volunteers for their help
Our volunteers are asked to respect their fellow attendees
The attendees are asked to respect the volunteers who do a great job in often stressful situations
Our volunteers will be wearing their snazzy lime green crew shirts so they are easy to spot should you be in need of assistance. Heads of departments will be in cyber pink shirts!
Link to the volunteer application form will be posted here when the form is live.
Depending on how much time you are willing to donate and what area you end up working, volunteering can be full-on but ultimately hugely enjoyable and a rewarding way to see another side to the convention. Plus you get an invite to the wrap party on the Sunday evening - our way of saying thanks.
The volunteer co-ordinator for The Homecoming is Candace Marbach who has done an incredible job at previous Gatecons. Candace will be responsible for scheduling volunteers subject to their availability and for making sure our volunteers are ok at all times. If you have a problem in making your designated shift please let Candace know.
To apply to join The Homecoming volunteer crew please go to the signup form at the Gatecon website: JOIN THE CREW (http://www.gatecon.com/volunteer)

Thanks Dominique, it will likely be handy to have a volunteer who speaks French anyway as we tend to get quite a few attendees from France. I will let you know when the volunteer form is ready

Had a great time volunteering in 2008! I would love to do it again!!!
-
Well, I guess you can have my time. LOL, I guess I better since my name is up there. Hot Pink and Lime Green huh. You really want to make sure they can't miss us. What color are you going to make Security...Lemon Yellow?

I was wondering if the Stage crew was going to be day-glo or if they were going to get a more subdued color to blend in better. =)

Needs to be day-glo to match the Vangroovy theme. :D

Maybe a blue?

Maybe a blue?
Maybe. Or - they can be bright and all the celeb guests can just make random comments about them being there. (B/c you know they will.)

Don't worry.. Stage crew peeps will still be in black! X

I would like to volunteer. It was a lot of fun doing it at the 2008 Gatecon. I can work registration and any gopher job or wherever I can be of help. Candace, it will be great to see you again!
-
You can count me in, Paul Brown and JCB know what I do best. Love to help out any why I can. See you all next year.
-
Hiya,
Volunteered a fair bit back in 2005 (my last Gatecon!) and since then I've qualified as a doctor so could do First Aid stuff if people need.
Cheers

Excellent thanks, can you be sure to mention the First Aid on the volunteer form when it goes live please.

Guess we'll all need to work on our tans before the Con so we don't look pasty against the bright shirt colors! :-) And Mags, I'd vote for neon blue for security! :o
-
I'd like to volunteer too. This will be my first Gatecon, but I do have four years experience with another con.
-
Count me in if I'm there. Preferably tech-crew (camera).
-
I'd like to volunteer too, I've never been to a con in Canada before but I'm moving to Van for the year. I've got some experience volunteering for cons in the UK, after a friend told me how fantastic the experience is.
-
Happy to help where I can. Loved doing it in 2008. 😊
-
Would love to help out too. Was at the 2008 Gatecon and had a wonderful time volunteering. Thinking Tech or possibly Medical if you have it. Just a little background in both. 😉
-
When the volunteer form goes live, mention any skills/knowledge that you have - like medical training or tech expertise - and Candace (the volunteer coord) will keep track of that so if it's useful/nec'y when setting up volunteer assignments, she has it on hand.

I'll be one of Robbins Jaffa again. ;D

I'll probably volunteer at least some of my time to help out - it's usually hard work but a lot of fun. I will wait for the volunteer form to go live :)
-
Can't wait to volunteer! I've volunteered at almost every Con I've gone to except 2 and that was because they either A.) used and abused their volunteers B.) they only had 1 option for volunteering and that was ALL weekend ALL the time.
I usually go to anywhere between 7 and 10 Cons/Expos every year and always feel SUPER weird if I don't volunteer at them in some way or another.
-
I can't wait to volunteer again!!!!!!
-
Would LOVE to help volunteer in some way! Please let me know where I can help out! I've been to lots of cons as well! :)
-
Great thanks, we will have the volunteer forms up and running in a couple of weeks time.
-
Volunteering sounds awesome..
But I am way too chicken... Lol!
I am sure the guys who volunteer will do a fab job and I can't wait to get to know you all :) :)
-
I wasn't able to afford a ticket at the moment and now they're saying they may be sold out. I really wanted to volunteer since I live in Vancouver. Do I have to have a ticket to be a volunteer?
-

Tickets aren't sold out yet! They're still available.
And yes, you have to hold a ticket to the event in order to volunteer.

Don't be! Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, since you'll be working with them for a couple hours at least.
And you won't be left to your own devices! The volunteer coordinator will make sure everyone knows what they need to know. Plus - you get a cool shirt! =)
-
I'll be waiting for the form too. Volunteering sounds like fun. I'm a nurse so hopefully that will come in useful.

It will indeed! Mention that on the volunteer form when you sign up (once it goes live) and Candace (the volunteer coord) will keep that on file. =)

Hmmm...
I'm trying to convince myself lol..
I think I might offer my services for registration and see what happens..
I'm going to be arriving in Vancouver earlyish to meet some friend who stay there so I can totally do it...
And the shirt is totally the selling point ;D ;D

Registration is very good for meeting people - sometimes you even recognize names. I met several folks that way - both working registration and going through the line. =)

I love love volunteering at conventions, especially if it's a new convention to me cause then I get to meet more people. I always feel like I get more out of going to a con and volunteering than if I'm just attending. Volunteering I think you get to connect right from the get go and you have that core group that sticks with you throughout time!
-
I got an email with my ticket confirmation (YAAHHH!!!!!) and it said "please complete the Volunteer Form at the Gatecon site" if you're interested in volunteering. Am I going blind?? I want to volunteer - sounds like fun.
Thanks.
(If someone points it out and it's right in front of me, I'll feel really stupid. ;D)
-
Hehe the form will be up and running shortly Barbara
-
Yeah -the volunteer form isn't up yet. Don't worry if you don't fill it out as soon as it goes up... the volunteer schedule won't be finalized until... well... after the con's over. =) B/c we make changes as we go, as that's how we roll! *waves to Candace*

Hey Richard
Count me in on volunteering. Arriving at hotel on the Wednesday prior, and available to assist.

You got it!!!!! 👍🏼 I always end up feeling at home when I help during registration. I used to help run registration for a Con with 40,000+ attendees, this past weekend I helped run registration for another Con with 4,000+ attendees.

Looking forward to the volunteer form being posted. I'd like to volunteer. I've worked all kinds of jobs at other conventions.

I`d like to volunteer too whenever a helping hand is needed. I`m good at body massages :o

I do believe I will volunteer. I'm an IT guy :) Everyone needs IT guys.

IT guys are rather useful. =)

I'm still thinking of volunteering. I did so for the 2008 event and had a blast working in the Legends room. This year, though, I'm going with a newbie who's never been to a big convention. I'm pleased and excited to show her everything and experience it through her eyes, but she wasn't keen on volunteering herself. Being so new and not really knowing too many people yet, I think she was afraid she would be abandoned.
If I can convince her of the fun of volunteering, is there a chance we could be put together to work? That way, she would at least start off hanging with someone she knows and will feel more comfortable and less out of her element.
I'm certain that by the end of the weekend, she'll have a ton new friends though. ;)
-
Hi Brenda,
Definitely mention staying together on the volunteer form when it goes live so Candace can plan accordingly.

I'm betting it won't take all weekend for her to find a bunch of new friends! ;D
-
I tried to convince my mum to volunteer with me, but she isn't for doing it...
So it is just gonna be me...
Mum can go do something else..
Brenda, if your friend doesn't want to volunteer they can hang with my mum :D She doesn't bite, I promise!

I do believe I will volunteer. I'm an IT guy :) Everyone needs IT guys.
IT peeps are always needed at every convention so I'm sure your skills will be loved!

The Volunteer application form is now live at the website...although we are referring to the volunteers as 'crew' from now on, and will be using the word crew rather than volunteer on the t-shirts.

WOOOHOOOO!!!!
That's me applied to be a volunteer!!!!
Totally excited now, fingers crossed :D!

Yup, I just signed up too. I've never been a volunteer at a convention but it sounds like fun. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone.

Think if it this way...by volunteering you will get to meet a small group of volunteers first. Then the other attendees through volunteering. It's fun. And yes make sure you are together.
-
Oh and I just signed up for volunteering. :)

Voluteer form completed. *Tick* 😊

Got my application in for volunteering and I'm super excited!!

I'm trying to figure out how many days and in what areas I want to sign up. I'm interested in several areas and have some questions;
1. Registration - I would also like to do the Harbour Cruise. Would this be doable?
2. Monitor doors/panels - I'm assuming that if I'm "on duty" I wouldn't be able to take pictures, right? Would it be possible to sit down during some panels so I could shoot some photos?
3. I'll be arriving in Van on the 6th. Would help be needed prior to the 8th for set-up? If my friend can't make it, I would be willing to help with that.
There are a few other areas I'd like to work. Maybe I should just check "wherever needed" :)
Thanks
-
Hi Pam,
Yes the reg desk will be open before and after the cruise to let those going on it register so will also be the chance to work the desk as well - unless of course absolutely everybody wants to go on the cruise in which case we may have to do registration en route hehe.
Seriously though, depending on the uptake for the cruise, we will likely set aside a certain hour or so after we get back that will be registration for cruise goers only. Those not taking part in the cruise will be encouraged to register during the cruise hours.
Once the panel is underway it should be fine for you to get some shots in...just remember it will be non flash after the first five minutes.
Will definitely let you know about any pre-event help. Thanks.
-

I didn't even think about the whole working registration and going on the cruise thing, thanks for asking that!

Thanks for the consistent awesome information! I'm getting the feeling that you've co-organized a few of these guys ;)
-
Submitted application. I forgot to add that I am willing to help out with pre-con activities. Also, I'm not leaving Vancouver until the 14th, so there is a chance that I could help with post-con activities too.
-
Richard...
I think my mother and I will be there on around the 5th or 6th! If you are needing some set-up help I am willing to give up some time...
We are staying a few days after so that is going to be our 'sightseeing' time but I am happy to give up time before the con :D!
-
Hi Richard,
I managed to stay longer so if a hand is needed for pre- or post-con activities I`m in :D

Floating registration? That sounds like either fun or chaos... tho, those can be interchangeable. =)

We've done that before - had registration open and ONLY let folks going to a pre-con event go through until they were all set, then opened it up for everyone else; or had the pre-con event folks roll through once they return.
Registration is open every day of the con too - for a few hours anyway.
-
What if at registration we had an express lane for those that are on the cruise? That is, if we start to see a back up of any kind at reg. Just an idea!

Sounds like a good idea. 😊
-
Very good idea.
It will really depend on the uptake for the cruise. If we get say 400 sign up for it we would need the whole desk to get them registered before or after the cruise.
Will know more later on.

A lot of it will depend on the overall price of the cruise, but anything is possible!

I'm guessing that if you have put your name down to 'do' registration then there isn't much point in going on the cruise? Hmmm.... Decisions, decisions!

No - if you sign up to do registration, 2 things - 1) registration happens every day, so you could be scheduled for a different day; 2) you may not be slotted to work registration if there isn't space and may get a different assignment.
Go ahead and sign-up for the cruise if you want to go on it (and buy your ticket when they go on sale) - Volunteer positions won't interfere with add-ons like that. Closer to the actual convention, when Candace starts working out the volunteer shifts, she'll take the 'extras' into consideration.
Plan for all the things you want to do. =)

Ahhh, okay... I didn't think of this at all...
I was just thinking that I was gonna do registration on the first day and that was that!! Haha
Oh well.. I'll see what I can get booked then haha! :)!
-
We will definitely work things around the add-ons. Would hate for anyone to mis out on the cruise in order to man the reg desk.
-
Very good idea.
It will really depend on the uptake for the cruise. If we get say 400 sign up for it we would need the whole desk to get them registered before or after the cruise.
Will know more later on.

Not yet. They haven't announced it, that was a general 'when it becomes available, go ahead and sign up', as in 'don't plan your other activities around your potential volunteer assignment'.

Good to know!

And then I am guessing we just let the person in charge of organising the volunteers know that we are attending certain add ons?
Seems obvious now I have typed it, but what the hell LMAO!

You don't even have to do that...I'll be giving Candace a complete list of all the volunteers nearer the time and it will have marked on there who has booked on to what extras.
Aren't we kind? 😎

Of course I am. Did I give you permission to get up from that registration desk? SIIIIIITT 😬

When I signed up as a volunteer, I mentioned that I was a Registered Nurse. I just want to point out that, as a trained professional, I am fully qualified to provide mouth-to-mouth resuscitation to any guests that might require...resuscitating. ;) ;D

I love the comedy that happens here! You should do like a 10min set change performance ;) Or a short comedy show too would be sufficient ;D

Just dropping a quick note that Connie and I have filled out the volunteer form. Hope we can be of help next year and make a few new friends in the process. 😉

Signed up for The Cruise, The Bus Tour and The Banquet. Definitely buying tickets but if I can help for any or all of the 3 events, count me in. As mentioned before, I have a LOT of experience herding enthusiastic Stargate fans. ;-) Is it too early to start counting the days ?? We need a counter on the website !!
-
I've also signed up to volunteer but for a limited shift.

Make sure you fill out the Volunteer form on the Gatecon site so it can be forwarded to the volunteer coordinator! =)

For Candace Marbach: I signed up (Tessa Carati), but have since then acquired a resuscitation certificate (CPR and AED), which will still be valid during the duration of Gatecon. Could you add that to my skills? In case it is needed. Thanks.

Thanks Tessa, I'll add that onto the database :)

I wish to apply, but have no idea of my availability until a more precise activities/itinerary layout is available. Would it be best for me to wait or may I already apply and inform later as to how much exactly I could work ?
-
I'd definitely suggest the latter. Candace won't be assigning anything until much nearer the time so having you on the vous list now would be perfect.
-
Will do ! Thank you !! ;D
aaand done !
-
I hope volunteers are still be accepted, I've just sent in my volunteer information!
I had no idea how limited I am in my "skills" I sound kinda lame.
I hope to be able to add more to my volunteer experience, like First aid or maybe get to volunteer at another convention.
If I'm able to expand on that list should I let someone know or does it not matter?

If you add to your skillset, let Richard know and he can pass the info to the Volunteer Coordinator.
And - don't worry if you don't think you have enough 'skills' - you have plenty! We need people with noses and chins and stuff. If you have those, you're good! =)
Joking aside - there are lots of things that we need people to do that don't require specialized skills.
-
Do we have to let anyone know if we booked the cruise or banquet or will you guys figure that part out yourselves LOL!
Cause I'm pretty sure I put down that I could help with registration but wasn't sure how that would work with the cruise being on the same day (at the time I wasn't planning on going on the cruise... Now I am, but would still like to help somewhere along the line...)

It's all in the data that Richard has and will give to the Vol Coord. Registration runs the whole weekend, so don't sweat that you won't have a chance.

Make sure you've filled out the volunteer form on the Gatecon website. We won't be able to place you in a volunteer role if you don't.
-
Just wondering: will volunteers be needed on the cruise?
Not an official answer, but I don't believe so. The cruise is a 'fun' add-on bit and the Gatecon staff folks (like Richard and GenPeanut) will (probably) be the 'volunteers' on the cruise. This lets those who would be con-volunteers have FUN on the fun event. XD
(( and if i am 100% ttly wrong about this, Richard will show up to correct me XD ))
-
You are spot on! the cruise won't need volunteers and it will be a chance for those going to kick back and relax.. I hope!
-
Thanks for the info. I'm booked for the cruise and have signed up for volunteering so I was just wondering.

Glad you have shone a light in this area haha!
At least I now know I can hold my sick bucket and not have to say anything to anyone haha!!
(Just kidding BTW)

Am I still on the volunteer list?
If you filled out the volunteer sign-up form and haven't informed Richard that you would like to be removed, then you are still on the list.

I'll give you a few hours but I have booked to do everything including early Sunday morning meditation! If you can fit me around that, I'll be quite happy to help!

Make sure you've filled in the volunteer form and submitted it. Candance will wave her magic wand and get everyone set up somehow if she can. =)
-
Please everyone who is thinking of Volunteering, please be sure to fill out the form. I will tell you this, you will be tired but it is so worth it. Never think that we won't use you, even if it's just for a couple of hours, your help will be appreciated.
-
I cannot for the life of me remember if I did or not apply to volunteer... I remember considering it, but can't remember if I filled the form and have yet to receive any sort of information via email.
So, I guess either way it's too late? :P #queenofstoopid
Seat is L33
-
Hi Sarah,
yes you did thanks, we have you on the list.
Candace is due to contact all the volunteers shortly, though I'm also about to put a final request out for anyone else who wants to sign up first.
-
THAAAANK YOU dearie. Working nights and overtime do not work well for my memory lol

Final Call for Volunteers...
Huge thanks to everyone who has already sent in a volunteer form - you will be hearing from Candace very soon.
But there is still time to join the crew for The Homecoming - this is our final call for volunteers, so if you are willing to donate some of your convention time to help the event run smoothly, we would really appreciate it.
As a volunteer you get the full convention experience by helping to make the event a success...and you get a free crew t-shirt too!
What's more as a volunteer you are invited to the last official party of the convention - the newly renamed El Crew Tortilla Wrap Party!
We are going with a Mexican theme for the wrap party so be prepared for food and music to match.
You will be greeted with a complimentary mojito (or soft drink alternative), Mexican style buffet (with Vegan options), Mariachi music playing, a selfie area where you can stand behind Mexican-themed cutouts and more. Plus of course some of our guests are expected to drop by.
Please note, the wrap party is only open to volunteers as our way of saying thank you. You also need to have a convention ticket in order to volunteer.
Submissions for volunteering will close on 31st July so please be sure to get your form into us by then. The form can be accessed here VOLUNTEER (http://gatecon.com/volunteer)

Richard - will the tortillas be made fresh on site? I mean - store bought just aren't the same. =)
-
The hotel is catering on site :)

I'm coming along with a couple of friends who aren't volunteering (#BOOOO ), and I'm a first time Gatecon / Vangroovy goer. Is that "final party" happening on the end of the weekend on Sunday evening, or evening after the Bus Tour ? (probably stupid question again (Fryn would be proud 8) ), but I'd rather look stupid and be sure than be arrogant and wrong ;D ;D
Also, never "really" ever ate Mexican much, so that'll be a nice discovery #HeresHoping 8)

It's on the Sunday evening :)

-
Hi, I know I WANT to volunteer, but like Sovereign I can't remember if I've already applied. I'm pretty sure I did, probably quite a while ago, but I forgot to write down if I did. My excuse is also a VERY VERY busy year at work... :-D
I can't wait to meet all of you guys, to re-meet past Gatecon friends, and to be in Vancouver again!
-
If you are in seat H04 then you have already volunteered Francis ;)
-
I'm pretty sure I volunteered earlier but - just in case - I went ahead and did it again. (I did put mention in the note that it might be a repeat.)
-
I am pretty sure I volunteered but I don't remember and it may have only been for a couple hours. I may have been non-committal (as far as how much time I could obligate) because I didn't know what to expect and I may be visiting family across the border. If you find yourself short handed during certain times, I will be happy to add additional hours if I am available. If I didn't volunteer, let me know or just add me to the volunteer list. Since this is my first convention and I don't know anyone, I know this will be the best way to meet people.
Thanks!
-
Hi Jeannette,
yes we got a volunteer form in from you, thanks very much :)

I do not believe they've gone out yet, just the intro message. Coordinating volunteers is hard work and is a bit like playing Tetris. =)

Hi...Candace hasn't received your volunteer form. Can you re-send it please and also copy in Stef at stef.rogers@gatecon.com so that she can order a t shirt? It needs doing urgently as the t shirt order is being sent in over the weekend. Thanks!

Which person on the thread have you not received volunteer form? Have you received from K-31?
Thanx

Any news on the schedule yet? Getting excited :D 8)

Yes we have received a form from you :)

I filled out the volunteer form, but I never heard anything about it.
-
Candace is working on assignments and will be in touch very soon :)
-
I am not sure what I put on my volunteer form for but I believe it was only for a short period of time on the first day (since I didn't know what to expect). However, after looking at the tentative itinerary/schedule and their is redundancy build into the schedule, I am also available Friday or Saturday afternoon if you need me.
Thanks.

About Volunteering at Gatecon...
Volunteering at Gatecon is awesome. It can also be hard work, depending on what job you get. (Building and striking sets requires some lifting and hammering and painting, so is a bit more strenuous than some other jobs.) But here's the thing - Gatecon won't work without the volunteers. Everything in this post is based on my own personal experiences at Gatecon.
From the registration table to the merch table in the dealer's room to the room roamers in the ballroom and everyone in between, all of the jobs are important.
I've done a lot of volunteer jobs at Gatecon, so let me run down a few of them for you:
Registration: You are responsible for making sure everyone gets their packets, which includes their badges and any goodies that come with it. You may also get questions about the convention. But - you also get to see TONS of people as they collect their tickets and goodies. You're probably the first view of Gatecon a lot of the folks will have. That's important! Also - you never know who will walk up to the registration table - it's sort of like a hospitality booth and information desk. People will come to you with anything!
Merch table: This is in the Dealer's Room. These are typically things like Gatecon merch that people are picking up and sometimes other things. The time I worked the table, we were set up next to a nifty dealer who had interesting jewelry. So you can see some really fun stuff. And you can see more people here too - because they're picking up goodies like at registration.
Stagecrew: Setting up chairs and putting out water bottles for the stage guests. Making sure the mics are on and that the soundboard knows which guest has which mic. Helping out Allan with whatever he might need for his next trip out on stage as MC. Generally just being polite and helpful backstage. And quiet if you're near the stage area, because the folks out front *can* hear you.
Main Auditorium: This is the mic runners and room roamers and door guards. Mic runners, well, they run the mics around the room so the audience can ask questions. They kneel a lot. This is not the job for you if you have bad knees. Room Roamers help people find seats in the beginning of the panels and keep watch for people using flash after the first 5 minutes of the panel and keep a lookout for people videotaping during the panels (videotaping is a no-no). Door guards direct folks to use the correct exits during the panels so the light levels stay as normalized as possible for the official convention video. These are the folks that help the panels themselves run smoothly in the audience area.
Auction: There's cataloging of all the items that come in for the auction - this is pretty cool, b/c we get some really neat stuff! Then there's keeping track of all of the items as they're sold during the auction itself. (If you think this sounds like an easy task, you have never been to a Gatecon auction!)
Those are the jobs I've done directly. Now, here are a few that I haven't done, but I've been to enough Gatecons to know most of the basics.
Photo Sessions: Taking money and printing receipts for attendees when they purchase photo ops is one of the primary functions. (There can be technology issues, but we power through!) There's also usually one or two folks around to guide attendees and guests to their 'marks' for getting their photos. (I've been through this enough that I know it can be like herding cats - sometimes the guests like to play hide and seek :/ )
Autograph Sessions: Typically this involves sitting quietly at the guest's table taking payment and making change for the autographs and photos they have for sale so the guest can focus their time on signing the autographs and sometimes chatting with the attendees.
Guest Services: These people are designated to move the guests through the convention so they can arrive on time for their panels and other events. They're sometimes also 'gophers' for the guests, so the guests don't have to leave what they're doing to go get a water or something. They also keep an eye on the general goings-on of the convention. Very, very rarely is this a gig one gets on their first volunteer assignment. These volunteers are vetted by the Gatecon organizers, most of them long-time Gatecon volunteers. Long way of saying, if this isn't the assignment you were given, don't be upset, most people don't get this assignment.
I think that's pretty much everything that isn't one of the more specialized roles like running the cameras or the soundboard. If you have any specific questions about any of the jobs, feel free to ask and I'll answer what I can based on previous Gatecon experiences.
-
BOOM!!!
I got my assignment!
I'll be in registration on the Thursday morning :)!
See you all then peeps!

Photos for me <3

HI ALL, I GOT TO BE A ROOMIE. THIS IS MY FIRST TIME VOLUNTEERING AND WHAT DOES THIS EXACTLY INVOLVE PLEASE?
;D ;D ;D
-
Monitoring the room, watching doors and assisting people find their seat... Best to check with Candace for full details. She will instruct you fully at the crew briefing on the Thursday
-
Did the volunteer assignments go out? I have not received anything yet.
Thanks.
-
Just wondering -- If I volunteered but wasn't listed on the charts does that mean you don't need my help anywhere?
-
Hi... You are on. The volunteer shirt list so not sure what's going on. I will pass your message on to Candace in case she missed you off but you ar definitely still needed! :)
-

There are charts with all the assignments? Where please.
-
I haven't seen one... just a description of the various duties a few posts up. Still waiting to hear from Candace.
-
I received the email from Candace. I have photos for Saturday. I could do more if they need me.
-
If you haven't heard from Candace about your assignment it would be best to drop her an email in case she's missed you on her list...!
-
I saw that there are 2 crew briefings scheduled. Can I assume we only have to attend 1 of them?
-

That would be a question for Candace - though there could be 2 to make sure everyone is briefed, in case they're not available on Thursday. So - you may need to attend both. Candace will let you know for sure.
-
I sent her an email.
-
The second briefing is there for anyone who may not have arrived in time for the Thursday briefing, but no if you go on Thursday you won't need to also go on Friday.
-
I'm up for registration on the Thursday morning.
I'm assuming we just go there a little earlier to be told what we have to do :/!
-
I've received two emails with assignments. I replied to one since I won't be available to do that shift due to the cruise happening at the same time, but offered to help out another day/time as well as extra roomie duties if needed.
I assume when we get our registration packet, our assignments (any unknown to us) will all be in it or we might find out officially at the briefing..?

You'll find out at the briefing, or via a new e-mail from Candace. She's probably doing a bit of almost-last-minute shuffling. =)

Don't worry, she will introduce herself. You will soon get to know them all. 😁

She won't need to. She's recognizable without it. Trust me - you'll know who she is. =)

I have an assignment in one of the photo rooms. I also volunteered to help with setup and tear down if they needed me but I haven't heard anything about that. Guess I'll be looking for Candace too :) :)

Set-up generally happens on Thursday, I believe. During the day. So - if you're on the cruise, you'll miss that. But tear-down is on Sunday right after the closing ceremonies.
