Hi Ricard,
I have just been to Oz Comic con and they have started usung bar code readers for photo and autograph tickets. Of course this is Australia and we are usually so far behind everyone else, but thought that it was a good idea to save money printing official looking tickets. (just in case you didn't know. If you need to know more I can elaborate, but I didn't want to rabbit on about that which you are already aware of).

I have a suggestive question. ;) With recent seating arrangement issues, has there been any thought about using Kickstarter, GoFundMe, or other fundraising entities to help raise money to buy the software that airlines use for seating? Another convention organization implemented this seating program in 2008-2009 for future events to eliminate the complaints received from past conventions. In an email sent to us on their subscription list, we were told it would cost ~$30,000. But I know that much could be collected from ST ticket sales alone. I'm not sure who would provide site maintenance if it were to be used for future Gatecon conventions.

Something we could look at for future events though at that price for now it's us manually assigning seats hehe
Kickstarter could be the way to go for it though.

At least this way I get to be familiar with each and every name on the ticket list!!

There are quite a few options out there for managing events. Here's a list of quite a few for future consideration with relatively decent pricing schemes: http://www.capterra.com/event-management-software/

Also for seating management alone with checkin: https://www.socialtables.com/

Keep posting :)

Everyone starts off as an Airman when they join the forum, but the more you post the more your rank increases!

Now we don't allow spam posting just to get a better rank so any naughtiness like that will be deleted, but here is a run down of the ranks available and the post counts needed:

Heck, I still use my nickname from Ryan's site for all things GC - even though I eventually did make Base Commander there, I'll always be a General! :-)

Any idea when some type of itinerary will be put out? I'm waiting to book the flight to see if I really need to be there on the Wed (7th) and leave on the  (The Tues)13th... Or, if not much is happening the first or last day, maybe change my plans to cut off one day...

I'll be putting up a pretty basic itinerary shortly - the full content of the main days is still being worked on - but to answer your question about the first and last days.

Thursday 8th will be registration day, daytime Harbour Cruise with RDA and Meet and Greet in the evening. Monday 12th will be the City Filming Location bus tour.

Both the cruise and the tour are optional extras that will involve an additional ticket purchase, but at least you can start planning your dates if they are of interest to you.

Ok, thanks. I do want to do the location tour. Haven't decided about the harbor tour.

Technically,  I still use my name from Ryan's site too - but only b/c it's the same name I use EVERYWHERE. =)

The bare bones itinerary has now been added to the first post of the Overview of the Planned Activities  thread...subject to change of course but the two excursions will be on the days indicated

Thanks, I found it. Looks like I will make it a long trip - will be arriving the day before and leaving the day after
