Competition for Music Videos?

As an avid Vidder, t'woud be fun :) Any chance of have a comp, or even just the opportunity to make them to get played? xx

It's something we have been looking  at but just need to consider any copyright issues with vids being broadcast. Will let you know :)

Richard - if you'd like, I can put you in touch with the folks at the Organization for Transformative Works and they can hook you up with the skinny for legal restrictions specifically regarding fanworks like vids.  My guess is, even being broadcast, since the vids would be transformative and fall under 'fair use', we'd probably be okay, but I am not a lawyer... though I do know people who are. XD

Follow up to say that I've fired off an e-mail to the OTW's legal team.  Depending on how busy they are, should hear back in a day or so - either w/ follow-up questions or a response. =)  Which I say b/c I don't know if any of the folks are familiar with Canadian copyright law, since they mostly deal with US stuff, but since Canada is our friendly neighbor, they might know a few things.

Richard - I received a reply from the OTW legal team... which email addy should I use to forward it to you so you can confab w/ the rest of the Organizer team?  (simple version: looks like we're pretty good for a vid contest w/ a few rules put in place. XD)

No word yet... I think Richard and co are still getting the tickets and confirmations in order, maybe taking a break from the whirlwind, then they'll get back to planning the extra-curriculars and deciding if they have room to add a vid contest to the agenda. =)
