Gategoers at The Invasion / Re: Countdown
« on: September 09, 2018, 07:14:29 PM »
Can't believe we're almost there, con time!!!   :D  As for what to wear, I found that my fleece does the trick keeping me warm in the con hall if the AC gets too cold and just right to wear under a light rain jacket when going outside with the temperature being around 16/17c now and for the rest of the week. It's light and easy to carry around if I get too hot.

I'm sitting looking at the rain now :( , a big change from the hot weather we've had in Vancouver for weeks. It was a sudden change from 28/29c last Wednesday to cooler cloudy weather the next day down to 17c. I have my lighter rain jacket and an umbrella which I will need now to walk to and from the B&B I'll be staying at. A bit of a pain this weather as it means I have extra stuff to carry with me during the day at the con.

Thank you Richard, it turned up as an option after I went back into my Gatecon account next to the ticket once payment was verified.  :)

Is it still possible to buy a banquet ticket at this point or are they sold out? I only just got the time off work and bought my convention ticket the other day. I've enjoyed the banquets at past cons and will be sad to miss it this time round.  :(

Hi Atlantia, put me on the list, be great to enjoy another wonderful evening with everyone.  :) I will arrange to escape from work earlier to get through the rush hour traffic and get there on time.

Hi Krisz,
It will really depend on whether we have already reached capacity by then selling full weekend tickets.

Thank you for the info Richard. This year didn't seem so busy at work as last year so I'll probably take the chance that it will be ok to take the Friday off at least and go for it and buy a ticket. I would find it hard to miss Gatecon if weekend tickets aren't available nearer the time. Good though for Gatecon, you have a full house!!!  :)

Will we be able to purchase day passes at all? I'm not sure if I can attend on the Friday due to the con happening during a busy time at work and I'm not sure if I can get time off.

Our Guest List / Re: Guest Chat
« on: September 16, 2017, 05:43:48 PM »
Awesome guest list as always, I love meeting the lovely people who entertained me so much over the years. It really is like meeting old friends again each time. I love hearing about what latest projects they are doing and we still get some gems of memories when they remember an event during their time on Stargate they may not have recounted before.

Any SGU guests we get is a nice bonus for me (Louis Ferreira is someone I'd love to meet), strangely enough there are some of us weird folk that really liked SGU......shock....horror....  ;D  :P!!

Here I am Atlantia, just to reassure you I haven't gated to the planet with the black hole!

Great to see so many new people, welcome all and hopefully I get to meet some, if not all of you.  :)

As always I love going to get togethers before cons. At the moment I can't commit due to it being the busy time at work. A drive to Richmond and back home after a long day at work and up again early after a late night out during the work week is something this old bird is not good at any more!

If the situation changes over the next year, and there is still a space nearer the time I'm in!  :)

The lure of Gatecon will no doubt make me come. Can't miss anything to do with Stargate that turns up on my doorstep! Just watch SGU's 'Cloverdale' and you'll see where I live, well, just around the corner from that street!

I love meeting all the lovely people who come and share the great moments Gatecon give us, being an ex-pat Brit it's always great to catch up with those who come from the UK. This will be my fourth time attending, and the wonderful Stargate family atmosphere is always worth making the bus journey. I tend to avoid driving in Vancouver traffic if I can avoid it, if I'm on holiday I don't want a reminder of my commute lol! However, I will make an exception to fill up my car with fellow fans and drive people to various Stargate locations if they want that experience, I love going to the favourite locations fellow Stargate fans love and want to see.  :)

I'm taking it nice and easy today, saving all my energy for when it all starts! I'll be making the trek to Richmond tomorrow by bus from Cloverdale. It's a marathon given the relatively short distance as transit outside of Vancouver itself is not as good once you're outside the skytrain network. I've decided not to drive as it's too tiring to drive home after a long day of con fun so I'll be be staying at a hotel close by. It will be a nice 'staycation' for me.  :D

We have 4 round tables all set at Harold's.  Wishing everyone safe travels to Gatecon. See you all very soon!
Atlantia

Round tables, we shall call it Camelot! Sorry, in silly mode now, really looking forward to seeing everyone!  ;D

Itinerary & Activities / Re: Wear a Costume for the Day Auctions
« on: August 28, 2016, 06:52:25 PM »
Being a big fan of SGU I would have loved to wear the space suit. However, even if I had the money to bid for the chance I would not fit in it.  :(

I hope I can catch whoever is wearing it for the day at some point and get a photo with them at least.

My daughter suffers from it too and gets very angry and agitated unexpectedly as well if she needs to get away from a crowd so I understand. She too is a lovely friendly person people love being around ironically lol! It's good to know what to look for if you are having a panic attack and hopefully as Gatecon has such a friendly atmosphere you'll feel relaxed and those attacks will not get you this time.  Hopefully I get to meet you at some point during the weekend to say hi! :)

I shouldn't have read that menu at lunch time, now I'm really hungry and I don't have anything at home that looks remotely as tasty as those items on the menu!

I've been in contact with Bill Butt who said he would more than likely be able to join us. He appeared in SG-1, SGA and SGU as well as many other shows and movies filmed in Vancouver. For those of you who have been on Gateworld you would know him as B.A.G (Balding Asian Guy) and read his good humoured stories about his exploits as an actor.

For those who haven't you'll find info about him here........

Can't wait now, so close, looking forward to seeing you all.  :)
