Are ticket prices with taxes?
Thanks.
Hey Richard,
As there are different ticket tiers, i think this needs to be a liile clearer for lining up at a guest table for autographs. Is there queing per tier or not? I would think not, but not all would. I know Platinum have the 15min advantage, but not all will do that especially if they think they can queue jump any time from table to table.

I'm pretty sure once the 15-min private section is up, everyone stands in line first come, first served.
(From a volunteer perspective, trying to figure out multiple lines or line-hopping once everyone can line-up is a logistical nightmare.)
Did I read that last line correctly? The $10.00 discount does NOT apply to tickets purchased and paid for in full using PayPal?
So I'm assuming I'd transfer US$ to Brittish Pounds?
Ian, Will the bank info be posted or linked on the ticket ordering site so we know at that time where to send our Electronic payment? So I'm assuming I'd transfer US$ to Brittish Pounds?
We have a US bank account that can receive online payments in USD, we will be listing the account details on the website
If you are able to pay bills online you should be able to pay into our account. The bank account will only accept US Dollars.
Since I will be trying to lead a group of 50 high school students through Toronto on the 26th, I have asked a friend to get a ticket for me. I have already set up a new account.
Now, since I want to go for a pricier ticket and planned on doing the payment plan: When my friend orders my ticket, will she also have to pay for it? Can she order my ticket and I can pay you with a payment plan?
I doubt this is logistically possible, but just for clarification. If it is not possible, do you know anyone who is interested in buying a healthy kidney? :-)
The bank details will be posted on the website with full instructions on how to pay. When you have reserved your ticket on the Gatecon site you will receive an order acknowledgement confirming your order, it will have the Gatecon payment reference that will need to be submitted with your payment. You can then log in to your bank account and make the payment.Ian, Will the bank info be posted or linked on the ticket ordering site so we know at that time where to send our Electronic payment? So I'm assuming I'd transfer US$ to Brittish Pounds?

I think we might of made an assumption that you would be using Paypal to make your payment and as Richard posted it is not possible due to the way our website integrates with Paypal. That said if you were to consider using Transferwise instead it would be possible. Your friend would need to order the ticket in your name and give your email address (it needs to be the same one you will use for the payment plan). Then you would need an account with Transferwise and make the payment/s. The official answer from the team members handling payments....
'No, the person who does the transaction is responsible for the payments. Can't buy for someone else and have another person pay for it.'
If I pay with paypal, will paypal will convert the money into US?
Paypal do offer the conversion but you need to check their rates. We are using Transferwise for our currency conversions, which is why we are offering it as an additional way to pay. They specialise in foreign exchange transfers and are very competitive as they use money market exchange rates and list their fees as a separate charge before you make the transaction. You also avoid a foreign trx fees as you pay Tranferwise in your local currency. If I pay with paypal, will paypal will convert the money into US?
Paypal typically handles the conversions. You may still end up with a 'foreign trx fee' from your bank.

Quick question regarding platinum tickets. Will people who pay in full get priority over people who choose a payment plan? Example, if Susie is first in and orders 3 tickets on a payment plan and I am second in and order three tickets but pay in full, who gets the first three tickets? Because with Platinum tickets "seats in the front row will be assigned in the order purchases are received, starting at the middle of the row and working out to the edges"Because of the low number of Platinum tickets available there is a limit in place on the shopping cart. The maximum number of Platinum tickets that can be bought by one person in a single transaction is 2. There is no limit on the number of transactions you can make but each would be limited to 2 Platinum tickets.

After selecting your tickets and entering the ticket holder details, the payment options are presented - at this point you have options to pay with Paypal, Transferwise or within the US, electronic bank transfers (full payment or installments for either). When you have made your selection and reviewed your order you then press the PAY NOW button - at this point your ticket is on hold If you elect to pay by Paypal you will be directed to the Paypal site to make your payment. If you want to pay by the other methods the tickets will be held for 14 days.
The tickets are reserved as they are ordered and then validated when they have been paid for so there is no advantage gained with the speed of payment.
Quick follow up, if someone purchases platinum tickets but does not make a payment in 14 days, the tickets get put up for sale again. My question is, does everyone who already bought a ticket get moved up to a better seat or do the seats that person was assigned go back out for sale?
Sorry for so many questions we are just trying to figure out how we are going to have four people sit together if we can only buy two tickets at a time :)
Is there any incentive to pay in full? The reason I ask is that 3 friends and I agreed to go Platinum together. We can pay the $599 via PayPal which means you'd get the money ($2,396) up front. But with a payment plan as an option, won't everyone want to go Platinum if they've got 6 months to pay off the ticket? Meaning those tickets are going to get snatched up fast.
And with there now being a limit on 2 platinum tickets per transaction, the four of us won't be seated together (as we have to make two separate transactions) and there's the possibility that two of us will miss out on platinum tickets altogether as they will be in high demand because of the payment plan option. And the whole point was for us to be able to sit together at the panels and banquet.
I'm wondering the same thing as PamK1950.
I'm #9 on the list and my t sounds as if I probably have no chance if the first 8 want 3-4 tots.
So bummed...ll😭

I'm #32, but they are going to be pulling random numbers so there is a chance of being able to get a platinum. It all depends on how many tickets are "taken" when they get to your number.
If I'm interpreting this correctly let say they pull numbers 3, 20, 44, 9, 32, 17, 10, 13 etc. If #3, 20 & 44 each get five tix, there would be ten left when it's your number.
If you get two tix there would be eight left when it's my turn. I'm just getting one, so we're down to seven for #17.
If #17, 10 and 13 buy the remaining tickets, everyone else will be put on a waiting list in case someone doesn't pay or make payment arrangements within the 14 day allotted time period
(Don't quote me on this, this is just my interpretation of what they posted)
It looks like I will, unfortunately, not be able to attend the 2018 convention, especially after looking over the ticket options. The prices are actually comparable (only slightly cheaper) to that of a typical Creation convention yet they don't give you an assigned seat within the block and, unlike Creation, photo ops are now tied to which ticket tier you have? Yeah, I understand there is a big difference between what Creation can afford and what Gatecon can afford, but as a consumer there's only so much I can afford and spending essentially the same as a Creation ticket and getting what is comparably a glorified general admission ticket with added restrictions does not seem like the value received matches the money paid.
I would only be ready to commit to a ticket if Richard Dean Anderson was confirmed to make a return appearance but, if I'm understanding the new setup properly, if it turned out I was only able to get the Copper tickets (which is the actually more expensive than Creation's Copper ticket) I would essentially be lucky to get into a photo op because I would have to wait for everybody else with a higher tier? I can understand Platinum getting priority access, but I really think having to go in order of ticket tier is a recipe for disaster, especially since at the Homecoming it tried to order the photo ops by rows and gave up several hours in.
I'm also not too keen on the payment system, it just seems like jumping through too many hoops to get a ticket. But I wish everybody the best and hope everybody has an incredible time.

We think alike. RDA will not be there. It was announced on the Gatecon FB page. For the platinum tickets, it only takes 12 people requesting 2 seats and that takes up the front row. The time zones are problems for US attendees. I noticed that many people were able to send in emails before the West Coast was awake. Back in the day, I almost volunteered for Creation events until I saw some unnerving behind the scenes stuff. Hope you do change your mind.

Hello, I think my questions might have been missed in the midst of the platinum ticket questions. They are Reply #27 and #28.
Also, since it is getting close to purchase date, will you be putting up a seating chart to show how many rows are gold, silver, and copper so we have time to consider?
Thanks.
Fryn had to remind me that Gold, Silver, and Copper seats are all unassigned.
I'm on the platinum waiting list. :( Copper ticket it is.

Why not Gold? 🤔
fixed income
So you will be assigned a row and not a seat, giving you the freedom to choose a seat within that row. Platinum ticket holders will have assigned seats as before. Your row will be assigned in the order your ticket is reserved rather than when payment has been made.

no due to once-a-month payment schedule which isn't the 1st of the month. At least I qualify for the platinum drawing.

If we want to sit together (in the same row), that means our tickets will need to be ordered together, right?
If so, is there a limit on how many tickets can be purchased in one transaction? Can one person buy 4 x GOLD tickets in one transaction for themselves and 3 friends?
And with the banquet tickets, in the one transaction can the person order 4 convention tickets and 4 banquet tickets? Or do you have to purchase banquet tickets separately to the con tickets?
Sorry for all the questions. We just want to make sure the person who is purchasing on our behalf knows what they need to do.

Questions aren't a problem (usually) so don't worry about asking them 😀
Yes to be assigned the same row as friends you would need to order and pay for the tickets together - there is a cap of ten in any one order so should cover all groups' needs we hope.
Same with the banquet, one person can order and pay for everyone - just make sure you have all the banquet choices written down to fill in.
Why are there so many places to get information? Why have a forum if you are going to post stuff to Facebook? I can't keep up!We're finding that not everyone is looking at the forum - so we need put the information on Facebook as well to try and make sure it reaches everyone.
I wouldn't call two places for information 'many' places at all. The Facebook page is for the immediate announcements. The forum is used more as an archive and to have more detailed information on things like the activities available that would look messy as a Facebook posting and would get lost in the constant page refreshes.
The person asking about the cap (of ten per order) was asking about the Gold tier not the Platinum.

Well I wouldn't call a forum, a Facebook page and at least two Facebook groups only two places. Facebook doesn't like to show posts in order anymore and it is almost impossible to find information if you are looking for it.
Just curious, how long until our tickets aren't "pending" anymore?

I believe it's 14 days
I have a question for someone who's knowledgeable about Transferwise. This is for a friend. Is it possible to cancel a completed Transferwise transaction for a Gatecon ticket and then start over?
I guess my phone doesn't work well with this site. Anyway, I can add a ticket but there is a great area at the bottom of the screen that says something like...
Copyright gatecon 2003 2017
Terms and descriptions
Privacy policy
This gray area must block the continue button because I can find no way to get past this page.
If anyone in charge csis, feel free to save me a silver ticket. I'd hate if they were all sold out by tomorrow. 😁

My understanding was they were giving you 14 days for your payment to reach them but your tickets should not be pending once they receive your payment. If you use PayPal they should receive the payment almost instantly so just curious why 5 hours later the tickets still say pending. I want to make sure they got my payment and nothing got screwed up.

My friends haven't bought their tickets yet and it wasn't a big deal for us to sit together since everything was unassigned according to the ticket information. This thread is the first I have learned of assigning rows. So now we won't be able to sit together because they will be assigned a different row.
Good job keeping the computers humming...
The row assignment plan was announced before tickets went on sale
How is payment by PayPal set up? If I understand their fees page correctly, whether or not we pay a fee depends on whether we are just "sending money" or if we are "buying something".
Just curious...will row assignments be in alphabetical order except those that bought group tickets?
Your row will be assigned in the order your ticket is reserved rather than when payment has been made. This makes it fairer as it gives those that opt for payment plans the same chance as everyone else.

I wonder if maybe they aren't manually confirmed by the team onto our GC accounts. Once they check their PayPal and do see that the funds have been transfered, no? I'd give them a couple more days to sift through that, and if by the end of the week there still isn't any news, then drop them a word ? It's bound to be busy for a wee bit. Anyway, that's what I'd do, :D
See you there !!
Hello darling!
Obviously the autographs and all are not included in the ticket price but I didn't have much money for anything last year and I still got to see a helluva lot of the guests. If like last time some guest set up shop in the corridors and near the vendors room to have items signed and all. If nothing else and so long as politeness is at the forethought of all they always seem eager to chat and just learn about us and our point of view on their character. They also frequently have projects ongoing that they will seemingly never be bothered talking about in the width of what is allowed. It's very down to earth for most guests and I loved that last year. I'm at work right now so I can't say more but I'll be sure to drop you a private message to chat more and answer anybquestion you may have about conventions in general.
Until then, have a good evening sweetie.
Would love to be able to go to this, would having. The regular tickets which are 199$ limit your chance at autographs and seeing the actor/actresses? Or would it just be seating and entry being a longer wait? Sorry never been to a convention before. Thanks for any help!
Thanks guys you encouraged me I just purchased a gold ticket and put the very last room at the hotel on hold.... Hopefully it will be a blast I'm super excited to go to my first convention :)
Any tips or info or interesting shares feel free to message me and keep me in the know :)
Warning to ticket buyers: I will not use Transferwise ever again. I used it as we were told we would get a discount on the Gatecon tickets. However, unlike Paypal, it was treated as a cash advance on my credit card. I was not aware of this. In addition to Transferwise's fee, I was charged a credit card fee and interest on the "cash advance". No savings at all.

I used my bank card and wasn't charged anything extra by my bank when I used Transferwise. (There was a $3 fee charged by Transferwise, but that was something I was aware of). ATfan, I noticed that you're from Canada. I'm from the US, so maybe that could be the difference.
I've returned from my business trip. I'm ready for banquet ticket sales and learning the date of the film location tour(Richard mentioned it could possibly moved to Thursday Sept 13, 2018)
Hi Krisz,
It will really depend on whether we have already reached capacity by then selling full weekend tickets.
