Just when the line was going smoothly, there's the one person who has something odd to get signed. And then there's the question to personalize or not.

I'll honestly just be happy with photos... depending on how long the queues are I suppose :/!

This whole autograph thing has me nervous now...

After reading that your payment basically gets you 2 autographs that going to be 1 long stressful line! I'm almost in a panic just thinking about how hard and LONG that's going to take! These actors and actress don't need us giving them carpel tunnel. I'm not going to say which Con but by the time they got to my row, which was only 4 back the Con staff had made MAJOR adjustments and restraints on how our signing would go. What the actor or actress would write was also limited to just their name and you could tell they weren't having as good of a time anymore they had their famous "Con" going face on which was super disappointing!

I think there may be multiple sessions.  As you say, if they are signing continuously it can get a bit wearing. I think our wonderful organisers will be speaking with the guests and finding out what best suits them, then arranging it in the program. I have been to 2 Gatecon events. I only heard positive remarks out photos and autos from both the guests and attendees.  The only down side is you can't be in 2 places at once and you may miss some of the panels.

We will have a better idea of the itinerary once we know for sure which guests are available when and for how long. I'm not really a fan of forcing folks to choose between a panel and a photo session, and we normally only have that kind of set up when the guest list is a large one...and guess what?!!

So we will try our best to keep it to a minimum, but yes, advance warning, it may well be the case that there are certain photo sessions going on while panels are happening.

As far as the auto session is concerned, that will take place on the Sunday afternoon once the panels have ended - though again if any guests are unable to attend on Sunday we will try to fit in an extra auto session if we can.

Assuming we will need to pay in CAD for autos, has anybody ever tried to exchange money out of an ATM for smaller bills at a nearby bank?

Yea, I was wondering that too. It's a bit of a pain to get foreign money. Unless you are a customer, some banks won't do it. And, not all banks do it at all (if you are a customer at one of those)

I know in previous years most guests doing autographs were happy to take U.S. dollars too. Now, that may actually cost you more if the exchange rate is in your favor, but for some that might be an easier option, so I throw it out there  :)

You mean the exchange rate being NOT in our favor?

Would still be hard to get $5's from an ATM. ;)

Usually hotels are happy to exchange currency. The airport has a currency exchange branch and there is another exchange branch a 12min walk from the hotel.

The Canadian $ was @ $.77 on Friday so exchange rate from US to CAD would be nearly $1.25 - more for your money. But that is only if you exchange it at a place where they don't charge you. Most exchanges have a hefty rate; banks not so much. The one at the Peace Arch into Canada from Blaine, WA is one of the highest. There is a Chevron station at the corner of G st & Peace Portal in Blaine, WA that doesn't charge for exchanging USD for CAD.

I think it'll last for a while, not sure really if it'll get better (US $ --> Can) but right now it's been pretty darn good for over 2 years.
