Hello Jen ans also Glenn. Welcome to the group Glenn. I am not sure if there will be another bus tour or not. I think they are concentrating on the ticket sales at the momement. Keep an eye out for dinners and such later on.

Ticket sales are definitely the priority at the moment though yes I have been in touch with the bus company again to express our intent to put on another filming location tour. We will give you more info on that when we can, including which day it will be held etc.

Meanwhile, welcome to Gategoers!!

Hi guys ! I'm Sovereign (Mass Effect fan here, not pompous royal, yo!), but I'm Sarah for real. 29, belgian living in the UK and the future reason why Fryn's gonna be walking on the ceiling (coffee coffee coffee coffeeeeeeeee !). This will be my second Gatecon, and I'm already planning our two weeks in the city for myself and my two newbies friends. If anyone has any question about general workings of gatecon, or even for stuff to see in vancouver and all, feel free. I have a tendancy to help answering or point to where the info can be found

Also I speak French as a first language so if anyone isn't too eager on the English language and would require clarification, do ask and i'll play translator !

Talk to you all soon and see you next September darlings !

I’m Becky, and I’m from Melbourne, Australia. I have never been to Gatecon before, though I’ve often looked into it and cursed my poor budgeting skills :(, but I will be there next year!! I have also never been to Canada, so I am looking forward to that adventure.
My normal convention-buddy can’t come along to Gatecon, so I don’t know anyone that will be there next year. I do have some social anxiety issues, so I’m pretty keen to meet some people on the forum before turning up to a convention full of strangers. I do love to talk (and sometimes you cant get me to shut up), but not so much in big group conversations, so I’ll often just sit back and listen.

Looking forward to meeting you Beckney.  It won't take long to get acquainted.  Those who have been to these events before are very friendly and welcoming.

Hey Becky ! Welcome ! Welcome!
Well for starters, you won't be alone coming from Australia, I know a couple of friends who are flying from Oz to come to Vancouver ! One of them is from Melbourne, although I can't say for sure that's where she'll be flying from or when. I can't try and find out for you, if that will ease your worries? Who knows, you might be on the same flight and not even know it then (although I do believe she's planning on staying a bit before/after the con... again, i can try and find out =D ) :)
If you have any question or just wanna chat outside of this forum, drop me a message here and we can arrange something. Facebook, twitter, skype, whatever will help make you feel comfortable. Last year was my first gatecon event and honestly it worked like a charm, everyone was just so amazingly nice. I have no doubt you will have a blast.

If you are looking for someone to crash with, in order to save on room cost etc., do have a look at the Room Sharing thread, see if you are looking for a roomie or what. In any case, happy to see you be a part of the adventure and I look forward to meeting you / chatting with you !  ;D ;D

Hi Becky,

Welcome to the forum and to the Gatecon family.
As you've already seen people are really friendly on here and happy to answer any questions you might have.

Hopefully you will be planning a longer trip to Vancouver with the distance you are travelling, so keep an eye out as we will be posting a lot of tourism info on the forum along with any discounts we can get for Gategoers.

Thanks Sovereign and Richard :) I have been to a few other conventions over the years, and have never met an unfriendly Stargate fan! Just a little nervous when I know no one.

I'll definitely be staying for more than just the convention! My brother is working a few hours north of Vancouver, and he has already told me that I'll be in trouble if we don't catch up. Vancouver looks really pretty, so I will do some more exploring too.

I'm certainly looking forward to the convention!

Hi everyone, Sharon here from UK, near Liverpool.

Gate con: first was Gatecon Uk in Cheltenham back in 2006 (although no my fiirst con, that was in 2002).
Second Gatecon was 2008 Sheraton Wall centre, then 2010 and 2016. I'm generally found printing photos  at the con.

Through star gate I feel in love with Vancouver, BC and Canada.

See you all at Gatecon 2018.

Coffee anyone?
Cos I'm me, and you is you, thats the way it is.
And I'm brilliant
