Fellow attendee here !

I don't believe there is any definite answer just yet, or at least none that have been announced beyond the Banquet. Sorry. But even if you can always apply later, doing so now shouldn't be an issue either. It's really up to you.

You can always tick the day (or all days) and when the activities dates are released let the coordinator whether or not you *do* volunteer on the thursday. The Facebook group might be useful in that sense.


You can also mention that Thursday availability is conditional to whether or not this or that activity happens, so Candace knows what to look out for / what to expect when sorting out what your duties would be. They are very accomodating, so long as there is communication  . On the day, my friends found themselves in a bit of a pickle over what they had to do and when and we just worked it out.

There is a case for comments on the form. Just let them know of the situation, or wait until later to volunteer. Not sure when further activities are gonna be announced, but I volunteered way past all announcements last time and still got a spot to help out. It is as you prefer

Just think yourself lucky I never got to do my 24 convention idea - running a con for 24 hours straight 😣

The following takes place between 3am and 4am.....

And Fryn already thinks I'll have her caffeinated enough at GC to walk on the ceiling. 24hrs non stop, she'll be a heap of.... I don't know. But worse xD
I don't watch the show, but I'm game if you are, just for the heck of it


Daaamn, if Kavan is there I will have issues not going "TIC TAAAAC" like a maniac every time I see him. We had to have him live comment the episode Tabula Rasa from SGA S4 at an event, and everytime his character was popping a pill of medicine, Mr Smith would go shouting "TIC TAAAAAC" in the mic, because it was what they were given. So now it stuck in my head forever xD Because they popped a lot of meds in that ep xD

Oh, that would have been hysterical! Damn.... digging out S4 to watch that again...

well, if i remember the event right, it was back in June 2011, or longer if the one before that. That's how memorable that was, over 6years later I'm still not over the TIC TAC. xD

Honestly, my one dream would one day to meet Claudia Black (I mean, COME ON), but I know for a fact that any and all SG related guests are a blast. The universe in itself is crazy enough and the community is bonkers. I'll keep dreaming for CB, but so far I'm very happy with what line up we already have

The shuttle pick up was soooo helpful for us to reach Steveston. Anyone else need to reach Steveston via public transport, use the SkyTrain down to Bridgeport, then the 407 bus from across the station towards Steveston (southbound) will take you there, it will just take longer. Can't remember if it was 30 or 45 minutes. To head back northbound, check the 410 or 407 buses. Alight at the stop at 4th Street and Chatham (mention it to the driver as you have no idea as to what it looks like, he/she will usually be more than happy to help.) From there it's just a matter of walking to Moncton Street. If you know Once Upon A Time (the show), locate the building used for the Storybrooke Library and across from it you'll find a huge sign on the wall that goes "Steveston Marine Hardware". 50yds down that street is Vancouver Whale Watch (you have a post with an orca and a sign to point it).

If needing help to move around / re: directions, drop me a PM. Spent a few days in  Steveston and I plan to go back at Easter so I can see if I can help you guys out if needs be.



With the shuttle.
You get there for a specific time, register some paperwork with the main office (mostly a security thing) and get your ticket, receive your whole waterproof vest (can't keep it, oops) and go to meet the crew of your ship. Our captain and guide were very knowledgeable and we loved the experience through and through. The sights were to behold, too !

Once you get back, the shop offers a series of memorabilia (clothing, and other items) for which the proceeds partly go to support the endeavours in marine research. And before you leave the ship, do make sure to take a look / take a picture at the map ! Just ask ! Our guide had every sighting written down on a map of the area, and I took a picture of it to remember it. They also have a visual guide the the known individuals / pods, going by the fin mark, to help them identify which orca is which and I snapped pics of it too to have even more infos about the animals we saw.

When we went out we had sightings of a few pods hunting, a couple resident ones and one or two transient ones, then we went up to have sights of a colony of mammals (sea lions? seals? I can't remember now I'd have to have a look again)

Well worth the time, and I'll do it again as soon as I hit Steveston again. Plus the main office is like less than a hundred yards from the Fisherman's Wharf, which is the pier area with a lot of small shops, restaurants (personnaly had a go / loved Shaddy Island and the Tapenade (the manager was giving live entertainment and damn was he good too )  or even Pajo's Fish & Chips for quick snacks. Lots to do, see and have opportunities to eat at. Must see and must do again !

Is it next September yet. A year, then two, without yanking your chain isn't nearly good enough. We should up our game next Gatecon, we (after all) have but a weekend !

I'll be sure to be sat faaaaaaar from you, you are the brains of this operation, people do need to see you in a good light. If I'm anywhere too near i'll ruin your rep before you can establish it

So Hello ALL!

Names Nikki, I'm 27 and have loved Stargate for as long as I knew it was around.... I live in Florida in the USA and it is hot, hot, hot....

This will be my first convention ever and my first Stargate event I go to, *Gasp* I know that rock I lived under finally got picked up and moved lol... I love to draw, write, and enjoy traveling....

Ummm lets see I am a HUGE Amanda Tapping fan and cannot wait to see her I like Mortal Kombat and The Sims games, I do awesome Halloween costumes/makeup on myself every year, and I am super excited to visit Canada for the first time!

Also I got the Golden Ticket ;P, Also my Girlfriend and her son will be with me to see Vancouver but will be passing on the convention itself so looking to meet new friends and have a good time as well!

Message me with any cool tips, pointers, or info you think I might like... Look out for this rookie y'all!
