I actually went to a vintage store and got a dress from the sixties (at least that's what they told me). I might not be the grooviest person there - but I'll be authentic!!

I'm sewing some of my outfits for the weekend. So we'll see.

I can't remember if you posted this or not - how many seats at the head table are going to be auctioned?

Six, and one last one is being held back to be drawn at the convention.

Whlie it is disappointing that What The Funk with Colin Cunningham are no longer able to perform at The Homecoming, as always we understand when work comes in and wish Colin all the best with his new venture. Gatecon won't be the same without him though.

We are very pleased to announce that we have secured a new band to supply the after-dinner entertainment at the banquet, and they are really ideal in terms of the 1960's theme we have going on.

Vancouver's very own Beatles experience, The Day Trippers will be joining us on Friday 9th September playing all the hit Beatles songs from 10pm until late, following on from Gary Jones stand-up routine with special guest Ellie Harvie.

and check out this short medley video

Testimonials :

"The Day Trippers were a huge success at our banquet, so thank you so much for that. We had great feedback from the delegates. I don’t think I have seen the dance floor so packed right up to  the end of the evening... and we all knew all the words to every song, and just kept singing!"

“Awesome night with The Day Trippers playing two full sets of The Beatles’ best. As authentic and Beatle-like as I have ever seen and heard, and I come from across the pond so have seen my fair share of British tribute bands! I would love these guys to have a homecoming gig back in Liverpool Merseyside!”
– Cecilia
Pitt Meadows, BC

“The Day Trippers got the crowd up and jiving to 60s rock n blues at the beautiful setting of Deep Cove this evening! Great nostalgia! Talented band with amazing harmonies, riffs and rhythms just like the original band!”

Do you have a ticket to the Homecoming Banquet?
If so how do you fancy bidding on one of six seats to sit at the Top Table with Richard Dean Anderson?

Starting tonight and every night this week (at 8pm BST) we will be releasing one seat at the table. By staggering the auctions across the week that gives everyone the best opportunity to place bids.

Each auction will run for seven days so you have plenty of time to get in on the bidding action.

Don't forget you must already have a ticket to the banquet in order to take part. Any bids from non-ticket holders will be void.

Winners must complete payment by Paypal within 24 hours of auction end or we may re-list the seat.
There will be one last seat made available through a free draw performed at the opening ceremony.

Only the winning bidders can sit at the Top Table - seats are non-transferable.

You can head over to GATECON AUCTIONS and set up your account now if you like, although the first auction will not be visible until the start time.

IMPORTANT: the auctions are NOT linked to the Member's Area, and you will need to set up a new user name and password to take part. You do not need to supply your address but please include your Seat Number in the address field.

I thought this was strange since being in Vancouver, but anyone know why there's no fish on the menu?

You have to understand the issue when arranging a menu for a banquet like this. The hotel offered us just three options. Meat was clearly one, as was vegetarian. That left us deciding between chicken or fish. it was decided that chicken was the more popular and, in fact, was the right way to go as most people have chosen that meal. Apologies if  you are disappointed Sue and hope your banquet experience won't be spoilt as a result of there not being fish available :)

A Canadian friend had posed the question. I figured it was under the control of the hotel.
