Just throwing my two cents in here...

Color code  based tickets are gonna get ugly, and probably messy. I've been at many conventions over here and it never ended well with this system... That's mostly because we're italians and we do not know how to behave (sadly to admit that and kinda ashamed of my own people) around others, we turn into selfish asses and most of the time it only causes stress and chaos for both attendee and organizer.

Best thing imo would be color code bades ticket AND assigned number of the sit (a personal, one and only sit for the whole weekend) once you've properly registered at the hotel. This way there won't be misunderstandings and nobody can 'steal' your sitting position while you go off to photo/autograph session, bathroom, lunch (?), having to be perfomed CPR -probably only in my case and of course if I get the ticket- because I'm gonna need it after I see all my fav actors...

It'll save us time if TPTB just tell you where to sit, of course you can swap if you find someone who wants to...

If memory serves, we had assigned seats at both the 2008 and 2010 conventions.  It seemed to dispel any anxiety over "losing" your seat if you leave for a moment, or not being able to sit with you traveling companion if you dont get in the door quickly enough to find 2 or 3 seats together.  Maybe I should have posted this in the suggestions forum.

In 2008, I had a regular ticket, not a ticket bought at the door or a day pass, but I wasn't in the first 300. I also had the banquet ticket. Each day I entered the ballroom, I had to find a seat in the last five rows. I've gone over the pictures that I took, and the guests were ants onstage. Being petite doesn't help trying to view the stage over many heads. To pay $275 plus fees for the same view....um no.

Let's say, when you're at registration you choose your seat from a seating chart and the seat number is then recorded on your lanyard. If someone argues that you're in the wrong seat, your chosen seat number is right there in plain sight. Sure, it might make registration go a bit slower, but a little inconvenience at the start is preferable to people just being able to steal other peoples' seats should they be off doing something. What if a group of 15 were all off getting photo ops, only to return to find several people had decided to claim some of their seats? Is it fair that the group should have to now split up to find seats when they had all been together in the first place?

Other conventions I have been to utilized the assigned seating and it generally worked out quite well.

I'm new to this particular forum, but I completely agree. Besides having the TOTAL anxiety over getting a ticket, this would probably be the next best thing. I have myself and another going, so finding two seats together may not be that bad of a thing. But for a larger group? Tickets are bought in sequential order anyways, otherwise they wouldn't be in ordered "groupings" of color blocks. I think to at least have the notion to put seats into play, even if there is a line each day (although we all know none of us really want to stand in lines!) to keep the seats we have and not have to worry about them may make this easier going. Like someone said, unless they want to switch. Many of the conventions I go to have assigned seats and badges are numbered for panels just for that reason. Just throwing my two cents in! Like I said, I'm new, so that being said!

A lot of people including myself hate numbered seating because we all need to pay by credit card and can't cover each other's tickets SO a lot of people won't be able to sit with their friends now. Urgh bad times at the eleventh hour. There aren't ticketed seats at most UK cons and I've never known it to be an issue so don't understand why this approach has been such a huge concern for some people. I know you guys are working really hard and trying to keep everyone happy but some of us are now facing being loners in the hall lol.

I'm going with a bunch of friends from all over the world.  We can't all buy tickets together.  It's too late at this stage in the game, but I would happily have paid extra for seats.  Everyone's tickets are the same price, but IF you want an assigned seat, you can pay for it.  Say there are 100 rows of seats (an arbitrary number).  Rows 1-50 can be sold as assigned seats.  The front row is the most expensive, and the rows behind cost less, the further back they go.  Don't want to pay for a seat?  Fine, the last 50 rows are general seating, and you just pick where you want to sit.  I'd pay more to be closer to the stage.

I really feel bad for those that do have big groups.... And here I was one that complained. I'm sorry!!! Would it maybe be possible to still have color blocks, but wait to number tickets until registration? I feel like that would make it fair for everyone, groups could sit together, and it really would seemingly make everyone happy?

Fryn et al, thanks for listening to the comments. You just can't please 100% of the people 100% of the time.

I am so looking forward to this event, catching up with friends and making new ones. I have found that sitting next to a stranger at the beginning of a con, ends up being a friend by the end of it. Lining up for photos and autographs has the same effect too.

Don't be bummed because you may be sitting next to a stranger, it may be me! Smile and say hello, I assure you that I will say hello back. ☺

What's the fee for the payment plan and when is it due?

Payment plan will have a 5% fee and there will be three equal payments of US$96.25 (total of $288.75). Note the auto-calculation may be +/- one cent

Sorry to bug, amidst all the inquiries.... But if you do the payment plan, will your ticket location be affected? Ie. Will you sit further back because the person after you paid outright?? Just literally weighing options!!!

My anxiety is killing me, period!!! I really see no hope of sleep tonight! *<.<* I'll be fine once I see the link.... Wait scratch that. Once it says payment complete and I have a confirmation..... I totally agree with you Nell, I'm crossing all my fingers and toes that the purchase button is something obvious and BIG! I don't wanna have to spend precious time searching the page to find it!

If I had to hazard a guess, and I usually do as they generally aren't that hazardous, my guess would be the tickets will become available on the Gatecon store. As luck would have it, it is currently down for updates. It would not hurt to keep the ticket info page on the site handy as I imagine it will provide helpful information on where, exactly, to go to reserve your ticket. I'm hoping I can secure one for myself and see the rest of you there.
