In the event of a server crash…

1. Don’t panic! Everyone is in the same boat
2. Allan is wide awake at 3am in Australia to handle emergencies with the site
3. Bob, the Server Guru is also on hand in the US to reboot the system. If it does happen we should only be offline for around ten minutes.
4. Note if the website goes down, so does the forum, so any updates will be via Facebook

I got up and turned on my computer to wait for the tickets to go on sale, only to find that there was no internet connection. The router WOULD have to screw up at just an important time. Obviously, since I'm posting this, I was able to get it to reset and connect but it can be a stubborn thing and take ages  to get working. It would have sucked to potentially lose out on tickets to something like that.

Here is the all-important link you need to get your Gatecon tickets.
Please note there will be a short member registration form that everyone needs to complete before the purchase can be started. Note you only need to create your account to proceed. You can skip the part asking for your mailing address.

I don't think that there should be seat reserving. It makes it to difficult for the organisers to police and can generate arguments even during a panel. One set of butt cheeks, equals one seat. If someone is off getting photos or autos then when you return sit in the empty seat that you see within your block. If the con organisers start making rules and regulations for the seating, they may as well give out ticket numbers corresponding to seat numbers! No one can say who was sitting where, at what time or for how long, and it causes a distraction for guests as well as everyone else should a dispute arise. The con organisers can request, however, that once you have taken a seat and the panel has commenced, that you do not move around from seat to seat as this is distracting to the panel in progress. At the end of the panel if you see an empty seat that you would like, then by all means feel free to move to it for the next panel.
End of my rant for the day. ☺

They may end up going with a 'clear the room after each panel/block of panels' bit.  Lots of cons do that to prevent 'seat hoarding'.  But we'll see how it goes.

I think I saw that we will get a confirmation email, but I printed my receipt just in case. :D

Stand by!  They're making sure the ticket sales run.  The confirmation emails/ticket emails will come.

*I'm not Richard, but I'm sure he's busy making things run.* =)

It was stressful when it seemed to take forever for the link to load, and then my eyes mixed up the "Username" and "email" fields, resulting in some errors in signing up. Then my PayPal account had the wrong card number, which I had to change. There were almost 400 tickets sold by the time it told me I had mine reserved.
