We have just received the following statements from the agent of Michael Shanks and Amanda Tapping...


Michael Shanks must regretfully cancel his appearance at Gatecon in September due to filming in Toronto. He wishes all the best to Richard and the Gatecon family.

and

Due to a previous contractual obligation for a cancelled tour in Australia, Amanda Tapping cannot attend Gatecon in September. Ms. Tapping regrets the inconvenience to the promoter and her fans, but unfortunately, this prior commitment could not be worked out for any other dates in 2016. She wishes Richard a successful event and looks forward to participating another time.


We are as disappointed as you all but are determined not to let this lessen the enjoyment of The Homecoming, and will be actively seeking replacement guests to fill the gap.

Well, I'm sorry Ms. Tapping and Mr. Shanks won't be able to be there but we'll still have a great time.

Ah goddamnit.

I was SO looking forward to meeting them, this might have been my only chance since this journey is costing a hell of a lot and probably won't be able to make another one the year after.

Very disappointed at them, not gatecon staff...

I can understand why you are so upset about this, but unfortunatley Amanda and Michael are under contract for these things and have no choice but to cancel Gatecon.

Yes, I feel the same. I've never been to a stargate convention, and all of this played a big part in why I booked the trip. Man, this sucks... I may not have scheduled the event had I known this.

So disappointed....as thought I was finally going to meet Amanda :( But I'm sure we will all still have a fabulous time! Are you taking guest requests / contacting other guests in the local Vancouver area? There's some smaller guests who live in Van who are great fun as well as bigger guests

Marshall Teague from SG1 "A Matter Of Time" has told me on Twitter he would love to be a Gatecon guest. I'd like to see the crew of the Destiny from SGU, although Robert Carlyle doesn't do conventions.

Disappointed but I do understand.  The real world bites sometimes.  Hopefully, there will be other chances.  We will make this convention so successful that they will HAVE to come next year.   ;)

I'd love to see Joe Flannigan - but he's at a Chicago Stargate con like a week or two after this one. (So is Amanda - unless she cancelled that one). Not sure if he would do two
