Just a quick update.

I have finally heard from Earls. With a little negotiating, we should be able to get our group in. They will do i dividual ordering, so we don't have to sort out a menu. I am just waiting for the Manager to get back to me with final details.

I think this will solve the problems of taxis and timing and will probably suit everyone.  😆

When it says they will do an individual order... Is this going to be from the full menu? or a set menu... Usually with big groups (at least in my work place) they will do a set menu of 4 starters, 4 mains and dessert is optional... *shrugs* I don't mind what they do... just think that it might be easier that way... but I suppose if everyone gives a pre-order of some sort it should be fine!

The server can ring up the order separately from any menu. It's been done at the downtown Vancouver location and the Burnaby location.

From the full menu. Pre-ordering sounds like a good plan. It will probably save delays.we could each have a number that quote when ordering, then when we sit down, put a print out of that number in front of you.

A get-together sounds good.  I'm coming from South Carolina and plan on arriving the 7th so this works.  I'm definitely interested.

Since this message, my sister decided to come to the convention also.  So, if possible, I'd like to add her in too.

(She's never been to any kind of convention so this will be new to her.)

I wrote to one restaurant, told them how many we may have by September.  Funny, I haven't heard back from them..... hhmmmm 😀

Are you looking at restaurants close to the hotel or more in the downtown area?

Barbara & Hoschi I will add you to the list but i will put a space between the main list just in case they can't cater for more than 50. Btw welcome to the group. 😀

Most people want to stay close to the hotel, so I am negotiating with Earls, which seems to be the only restaurant in the area that can cope with such a large group. I will ask if i can increase the numbers to 55. I am hopefull that they can accommodate us. 😊

I'm excited too.  I've never been to a Stargate convention so I don't know anyone and this will be a good chance to meet some people before the actual convention.

It's funny.  Back in 2007 (my first trip to Vangroovy) I didn't know anyone, so I thought a small dinner will help break the ice. I think we had about 25 people. I was really pleased that I  did it. I made some great friends. I am so looking forward to this. I never thought that it would be this many, but i am so glad that it is. I can't wait to meet everyone. 😀
