Autograph Sessions

The autograph session will take place on Sunday 11th September.

Please note that autographs are not included in your convention ticket as this is how the guests earn their appearance fee. You may be able to obtain an extra free autograph on a personal item in addition to the purchased autograph at the guests' discretion. A full-list of charges will be made available as we get that info.

We request your cooperation in keeping the lines moving and being aware of the time constraints and respectful of the other fans and the guests.

AUTOGRAPHS

Autograph sessions are run for the actors' sole benefit and they have provided us with their individual prices which are paid direct to them at their table in the currency indicated for each guest. These are listed below.  To clarify, these will be available at the actors' table ('table photos'). Anything other than that classes as a personal item. Please note, there will be NO photographs available at Richard Dean Anderson's table and so those must be purchased from Legends Photo Booth* prior to joining the autograph lines. All RDAs autographs will be priced the same, whether official images or not.

In addition to 'table photos' available for purchase and signing at each guest table, Legends will also be selling a range of photos of the guests at the Legends Photo Booth* at US$5 each ('Legends photos'), and you will need to pay the guest direct for their autograph on these items.

Autograph Session Pricing structure
  • 'table photos' - actor will supply an autograph on an official headshot photo supplied by them at their table
  • 'Legends photos' - actor will supply an autograph on a photos purchased from the Legends Photo Booth.* Please note the price listed below for the autograph does not include the US$5 for prints being sold at the Legends Photo Booth*.
  • 'personal item' - actor will supply an autograph on a personal item.  A personal item is any item you bring into the room for signing. This could be a print from the photo shoot, a copy of the convention magazine, convention t-shirt or an item of your own etc. Note the organisers and the guests reserve the right to refuse any item they deem unsuitable - this includes body signing. The actor may or may not make a charge for personal items. Please check at their desk.


*Legends Photo Booth
Please note the Photo Booth will be stationed in the main Dealer Room on Friday and Saturday so you can purchase photos for the autograph session in advance if desired. On the Sunday, the Photo Booth will be moved to the foyer of the Britannia Ballroom where the main autograph session is taking place.


PHOTOGRAPHS

We have two main price tiers for the photo shoots - US$35 and US$30**. You will be purchasing tickets to the photo sessions that will allow you to be photographed with any guest within that price tier. Therefore if the person you were hoping to be photographed with is no longer able to attend, you are allowed to use that ticket for another guest in the same tier.

If you are travelling with a family member or friend and you wish to be in the same photograph, each person will need to buy a ticket for that shot. Tickets will be collected from you when the photograph is taken. There can be a maximum of five people in any one photograph with a guest. Each person will receive a copy of the photograph.

We are also hoping to offer some group photo ops (as in certain actors together in one shot...System Lords for example). Details on these to be added nearer the time.

Your photo op tickets do not include entry to the main convention - you will need to purchase a convention ticket in order to access the other events. You also need to be a convention ticket holder in order to take part in the photo ops.

There will be restrictions on props brought into the photo ops - please make sure you contact us BEFORE the convention to make sure your props are acceptable. Anyone bringing an unsuitable prop to the photo ops will be required to leave the prop outside the room. Likewise you are not allowed to bring gifts for the guests to the photo sessions. If you do have a gift for one of our guests please hand it to the registration desk or a crew member and we will pass it on to them. Gifts must be unwrapped.

Any uncollected photos will be made available in digital download form after the convention.

**Please note certain guests may be priced outside of the two main tiers. These will be clearly stated.

GUEST PRICES
The following is a list of the guest prices for autos and photos as it currently stands. Please note this is for guidance only and although unlikely, prices may change between now and the convention. Some guests may be offering extra options - please check at their table.

Currencies: For the autographs the guests would like to be paid in cash in the currency stated. For any photo op tickets purchased at the event we will accept CAD or US$ based on the prevailing exchange rates for the US$ prices stated. Likewise we will be able to accept both currencies for the official Homecoming merchandise available at the Gatecon table in the Dealer Room.

Any prices missing mean we are still waiting to hear and the figures will be added as we receive them

OK, thanks for the info. I assume tickets for this will pop up on the website eventually - for us to pre-buy tickets?

And, some conventions have photo prints available to buy to get signed. Online, most of the cool photos I have seen listed at ebay and other places are already signed. I haven't been able to find unsigned prints of the pics I like. I assume there will be some sort of dealer's room to buy stuff?

Yes Legends will be selling official head shots of the actors for signing in the autograph room. Saves the actors having to have them spread out over their table. The actors will then have an assistant handling the money for the actual autographs.

Ok, cool.

But then I guess it's first come first serve on the signatures since there won't be presales of the tickets (if they are collecting money right there). Right?

You are only preselling photo tickets then?

Just to clarify; does this mean that purchasing an autograph is essentially purchasing two signatures, provided one of the items is something you bring with you, say a DVD cover, for example? Otherwise, the limit remains at one per guest?

Oh cool....I can get the mousepad I bought at Gatecon 2008 signed by RDA. At QTF 2011, I finally got the 2008 photo op signed by RDA. Paul Brown was there.

So will everyone get a chance to get a autograph?  I can just pay for them right there at the table right?  Or do I have to buy a ticket in order to get into the autograph lines?

This is one of those things where the answer is 'it depends'.  It depends on how many people there are and how quickly the lines move, etc., for how many people get through.

Typically, it's a 'pay at the table' deal, since the money goes directly to the guests.  And it's almost always cash-only. 

Pro-Tip: bring as many smaller bills as you can - $5s are best, but $10s work out well too.  The less 'making change' the guests have to do, the faster the lines move. =)

What is the typical cost for an autograph at Gatecon? At the other conventions I've been to, where the guests were paid directly, autographs usually started at $20 and fluctuated around that point.

Amen to that! Small cash bills - Canadian for sure, but we will wait to see if they take US dollars too. If you can hand over exact change and your item to be signed, the lines will fly, and more people can get thru!

We were given little ticket stubs at LFCC this year to get RDA's auto...
But it was a shambles... they called numbers 1-50 but there was some woman with number 80+ in the queue having a whinge cause one of our friends was late and we had her ticket (which was number 20 something)...
Hope it isn't gonna be like that here, cause I barely managed to reign my temper in at this woman! LOL!

The prices are set by the guests, but in the past, they've ranged from $10CAD to $20CAD and a couple of guests were asking for $15CAD - hence the pro-tip about bringing $5's! =) 

Probably if you assume everyone is going to be at least $20CAD, and budget accordingly with a little padding, you'll likely get the ones you want. 

*BIG SPARKLE TEXT* this is all guessing based on previous Gatecons and these are NOT actual prices for this year, just advice - take at your own risk! =)

At the last Stargate con i went to the actors signed at the tables but would also take pics with fans on their phones for an extra $10, do you think any of the guests will be doing that? It was fun!

At Oc comic con in Sydney RDA signed and signed and signed. He even stayed late, I heard that it was 7pm just to make sure that everyone who had paid for an autograph ticket got an autograph. 

Now, saying that, the "Main" guests i.e RDA, in the past, we pre bought autograph and photo ops. I like this way best. Not only does it make planning how many they sign in each session manageable, we are not standing in a queue for long periods missing panels.
