If you do have a get together before the con, can we nab some of your photos from it to use on the website after the event? We want to try and show all aspects of the con and all the extra things folks get up to...within reason!

No problems. I will confirm with all that they are ok for you to have them, and let you know if anyone objects.

You can take all the pics you want and use them as you like as far as I'm concerned u.u

So, we wait and try to find another hotel near-by? Is that even possible or we have to stay at the hotel convention in order to attend the event?

Just wanted to mention that you don't need to stay at the convention hotel in order to attend. So if someplace else works out better, that's not a problem! Staying at the con hotel can be very convenient if you want to run up to your room to drop off things or retreat for a bit or whatever, but it is indeed quite pricey, and there are other hotel options nearby that will still give you easy access to the con :-)

Richard thanks for the reply and your assistance!  I was in fact looking for other hotels nearby, since the flight (at least for me... sooo faaaaaaar awaaaaay) is going to be pretty expensive on its own...
Yes, I agree that having the room in the same hotel will really be pretty convinient, but I can manage a short distance from/to the Sheraton 

In any case I'm hope to suggestions from whoever wants to share a room, don't be shy I don't bite!

There used to be a small hotel down the road a little - on the same block as the London Drugs, iirc - that was a bit cheaper than the con hotel.  I don't know if it's still there or what the rates are like now (the last time I was there was something like 9 or 10 yrs ago since the '80 and '10 cons were at the Wall Centre), so you can probably check that one out.

Thank you for the info!!! I'm gonna check that one out! I've found a hotel just across from where the Sheraton is, like a 2/3 minutes walk
according to google maps and I'm gonna see if thay have a room aviable from the 6th untill 16/18th... Hopefully I can stay there
for the whole period since with the occasion I'd like to visit Vancouver (not sure I could affort another trip like this in
the short period so I'd better make the most out of it)

I'm not sure who already has roommates from the earlier posts, so I'll just post what I have. I currently have a two bed queen room reserved and I'll be bringing an additional air mattress with me. I'm looking for 2-3 roommates to join me, or if there's some others that would like to go still cheaper, I could let me reservation go and join you with my mattress. I'm trying to save for GC extras plus I want to make a pre-GateCon detour to Tofino:) Let me know. Thanks, Christy

I have a question...

How does buying the ticket work? It's gonna be like in 2010?

Hope that your internet connection (presumably fast enough) doesn't fail you at the exact time the link will be published, breathless moments before you're rediceted, trembling fingers while you type the requested info and so on?

Is there a date or something close to it so I can warn everybody (and by warn I mean ' I'm gonna rip your hands off if only you so walk near your lappy) that for that day at that time internet is all mine?

Ok those were more that A question, but y'know I'm kinda anxious... 

UPDATE:

Please tell me you'll use also Pay-Pal, because I have a sort of credit card which is a Visa Electron circuit and it has happened before that some times it won't be accepted *panic rising*

I started learning it but really need to get back to it more seriously. Only learned the usual things like directions to the train station hehe

Ha!  You sound like me!  I got what amounts to about a semester's worth during my study abroad in Florence - but I had to do a bit of supplementing w/ Spanish and French from high school.  /o\

There are phone apps you can use to brush up.  They're pretty fun most of the time. XD

That's because we're funny people! XD

I absolutely understand your reason and I know how it can be when you have to wait an answer before giving one to another person.

I just checked the hotel's prices (a new block has been added) and they're kinda high for a single person, hence I won't be able to afford staying in the convention hotel all by myself...

In case we can find another accomodation then there's no problem in waiting for your answer. If not I hope you'll understand my looking for another roommate, I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to be there!

@Ksmerryman: Still looking? Have you already booked in the new block? Because we could share the three of us and it'll cost much less!!
