Hi!
I'm from New Hampshire. Went to a Stargate convention years ago and had such a great time. I made lifelong friends that I can not imagine my life without them in it. Just re-gated Atlantis and it made me want to connect with more Stargate fans again.

This will be my first time visiting Vancouver and I am quite excited, there's so much to do. Thinking of hiking before the con, maybe around Lake Garibaldi for a night or two, probably some sightseeing on the island and definitely exploring downtown. Will there be a FB group or someother way to connect? Wishing everyone the best!

Hi, I'm Marleen, I live in Belgium and plan on some extra time to discover more of Vancouver next year. was at Creation's Stargate event in Chicago multiple times... my first gatecon last year was a true revelation ! was always fond of my stargate family (fans & actors) and it got bigger & more real last year ! soooo looking forward to get together with old friends !
besides Stargate, I'm also a fan of StarTrek, Babylon 5 & BSG among others...

Hi Marlene, I am from Australia and look forward to seeing you at the pre-con dinner. 😎

Hello!
My name is Denise, I'm 22 years old and live in Austria. I just discovered the world of Stargate not long ago. Actually started to watch it after I have seen Sanctuary and fell in love with Amanda Tapping  So since I was too late for AT10 in the UK to meet Amanda - I found out about Gatecon and I thought "Yeah, why not?" So here I am, bought the gold ticket and travel alone to Canada since none of my friends have the time or the money. Actually I'm freaking scared to travel alone, but I want to do this so badly for myself, meet my idol and of course to meet other fans like me! I will stay 11 days, plan a trip to Vancouver Island before the Con and after the Con I'll be in Vancouver Downtown  - that's the plan yet. So if anyone is there alone too - let me know haha I could need a companion there It will be my first con ever and I'm excited to meet you all!

Welcome to the group. A lot of us travel alone then meet up when we get to Vancouver. You are going to love it! I have dinner on the go for Wednesday night. You are most welcome to join us. There is a thread about it somewhere on this forum. Also as we get closer to the date there will be lots of events to go somewhere or do something. Keep your eyes peeled.

Thank you for the welcome! I read about your dinner after I wrote this post here. It sounds good to me, but I'm not sure I would make it this day since I plan to stay in Vancouver Island for 3 days and return back to Richmond on Wednesday - at least that's how I plan it But I read Richard will maybe arrange something about a tour at the filmset on Thursday. If so - I hope to join there then. And yes, will keep my eyes open!

No worries. You will know where to find us when you get ther! 😄 Buchart Gardens and the Butterfly house are on Vancouver Island. Although I spent half a day at Buchart and still could have seen more. Get your walking shoes 👞 on. 🤗

Possibility of Christopher Judge coming to Gatecon? I was talking to him at the Salt Lake City Comic Con and he said he might be coming to Gatecon. Don't know how serious he was about it, but it was nice to hear that it might be a possibility.

Warning to ticket buyers:  I will not use Transferwise ever again.  I used it as we were told we would get a discount on the Gatecon tickets.  However, unlike Paypal, it was treated as a cash advance on my credit card.  I was not aware of this.  In addition to Transferwise's fee, I was charged a credit card fee and interest on the "cash advance".  No savings at all.

I used my bank card and wasn't charged anything extra by my bank when I used Transferwise.  (There was a $3 fee charged by Transferwise, but that was something I was aware of).  ATfan, I noticed that you're from Canada. I'm from the US, so maybe that could be the difference.

That happened to me also. My credit card treated it like a cash withdrawal and slugged me a $18 Aus fee plus the transferwise fee. I will have to think of another way to pay. 🤔

Hi I would have loved to attend, but I only arrive in Vancouver on Thursday the 13th, maybe next time.

No worries! There will be plenty of other opportunities to have coffee/tea or a meal. I just like meeting new people from every corner of the world. Definitely not my convention, but thanks anyway! 🙂

Is it next September yet. A year, then two, without yanking your chain isn't nearly good enough. We should up our game next Gatecon, we (after all) have but a weekend !
