unfortunately westjet doesnt service the airport closest to me  so I will have to pay a bit more and most airlines I have called don't have schedules listed for 2018 travel yet---will probably get decent discount as a senior with aarp or aaa

I joined Westjet Rewards club for travel deals. Westjet flies into and out of my airport.

I've been contemplating about flying to Seattle on Southwest (I should have enough points for a RT by then) and then take the train from Seattle to Vancouver.  Any suggestions?

I was contemplating the same scenario with airlines, but the train schedule overlaps flights. It's the same flying into Portland to catch the Amtrak Cascades into Vancouver. :(
