The rumour mills have started.....
Whatever is coming, Christopher Judge will be a part of it. He's recently worked as a sort of Stargate "ambassador", appearing at MGM's Stargate panels and Stargate Command's cast interviews. At MCM Comic Con he confirmed that "something is coming for Stargate" and that we will play a part in it, even going so far as to say he wouldn't mind only working on Stargate and God of War in the future. His success with God of War may have been an unexpected gift for Stargate's future, seeing as his name on a Stargate project would be worth a whole lot more today than just a couple of years ago. This makes it easier for MGM to decide to keep the current canon, with Chris Judge (a now more well-known name), as Teal'c, an in-canon character.
- The announcement will be made during Gatecon. It's been speculated that the announcement was originally to be made during San Diego Comic Con, but MGM only indicated that wheels are turning. Making the announcement at Comic Con would have made more sense than Gatecon, as the announcement would have had a greater reach and probably a bigger chance of going viral. While making it at Gatecon would send a signal that MGM actually cares about the fanbase, it also means they'll have to think of something clever to make sure whatever is coming will gather new consumers outside the existing fanbase. Stargate's fanbase right now just isn't large enough to carry a successful expensive science fiction show in 2018.
